Cat for Raleigh - District A
I'm running to represent District A Cat’s running to build a city that sees you and a future that includes you.
Cat Lawson is a law professor who spent a decade representing entrepreneurs and businesses in Downtown Raleigh and clerking on our State Supreme Court. Cat believes serving on Council is a job––not a megaphone––and she’s the only independent candidate in the non-partisan race for District A (Midtown and North Raleigh). Congratulations to Mary - I enjoyed spending the last several months getting to know her, and wish her all the best as she takes on the responsibility of representing our District for the next two years.
And to everyone who encouraged and supported me in this race, thank you so very, very much. I have loved getting to know our city and you all even better, and look forward to keeping up with you all - after I get several days of sleep. Raleigh is lucky to have so many people who deeply care for one another and for our shared future, and I’m honored by the hopes and trust you shared with me during this process.

Community means standing with one another in grief and anger as we reckon with the harsh reality of sensless violence. This weekend, I hope we remind friends and family members they’re loved, that we hold our community tightly, and that we commit ourselves to the work of ending gun violence and building a future free from fear.
But today we grieve. And we thank the police who daily confront the dangers we must end.

The weather cooperated and it was a great day to celebrate groundbreaking for the Gipson Play Plaza at Dix Park. Parks are such an important asset for our city, and I’ll work hard to protect and expand access to parks throughout our community.
