Counting Deep Fried Media Day, this is fourth time we have had the Cinna Mozza from Golden K Dog.

This is the absolutely best new food at the fair, and no one paid me to say it.

Y’all know we don’t play about cheese.

So when I tell you I woke up dreaming about this thing, understand, it left an impression. We first met the Cinna Mozza during Deep Fried Media Day, where chaos reigns supreme and the camera always eats first. By the time we actually got to taste it, it was warm, not hot, and somehow still so good we named it Best New Sweet Fair Food. And guess what? It won!

Now, we’ll be honest, cheese and Cinnamon Toast Crunch don’t exactly sound like soulmates. That’s the kind of combo you only trust at the fair, where logic takes the night off and deep fryers take the wheel. But it works. The salty-sweet thing? Perfection.

So when we rolled into the NC State Fair last night, fresh off a tray of Al’s Fries, we made a beeline straight to GoldenKdog like pilgrims on a mozzarella mission.

What you get is a massive mozzarella stick, hand-battered in a thick, ye**ty dough, fried golden, drenched in honey butter, and crowned with crushed Captain Crunch. Then comes the legendary cheese pull, a moment so beautiful you almost hear angels (or maybe it’s the Ferris wheel).

It’s sweet. It’s salty. It’s ridiculous in the best way. And it’s everything a fair food should be: indulgent, messy, and absolutely worth walking across the fairgrounds for.
