Lately I’ve been feeling really lonely. I’m not usually a lonely person, but I have felt more alone than ever these past few weeks. I have a great family and nothing to complain about, but am still dealing with this new truth. I am honestly still trying to grasp the new reality of isolation that everyone is facing at this time in the world.
After talking with my good friend Taylor about how I’ve been feeling, we decided to write a song about it. We really wanted to encompass the realness of uncertainty and the fear that surrounds it. It’s easy to write a song and say that everything is gonna be okay, but I think it takes some real honesty to confront the truth of one’s deepest doubts. During the writing process we mentioned a few times that we didn’t want to give false hope or paint a fake smile. We tried our best to give this song justice by only writing what we were actually feeling at the time.
This song is for the people who don’t know what’s gonna happen next. This song is for the ones who might be a little scared of the uncertain future. This song is for the people who are holding onto the edge waiting for a helping hand. Most importantly, this song is meant to comfort people who are feeling the same way as me. You. Are. Not. Alone.
