FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Pin Oak Foundation Receives Largest Grant to Date from Rotary Foundation of Quincy for Gardner Camp StarLab

A recent $35,000 donation will show Quincy area students that the sky is the limit when it comes to learning. The Rotary Foundation of Quincy presented the donation to the Pin Oak Foundation to help purchase a digital StarLab Planetarium, a unique learning experience in astronomy for area youth. Gardner Camp, in turn, is the direct beneficiary of this donation.

This donation advances the Rotary’s desire to support opportunities for improving our communities today by investing in the generation of tomorrow. By underwriting the StarLab, Rotarians are also supporting STEM education. (STEM is an acronym for science, technology, engineering, and math.) STEM helps students acquire useful skills for making informed, inquiry-based decisions and students to build foundations for success in their futures, regardless of their chosen career.

“We are tremendously grateful to the Rotary Foundation of Quincy. This donation allows us to bring a museum-quality planetarium to youth in our community and expand science learning for our schools,” states Amy Lefringhouse, Gardner Camp’s Executive Director.

Pin Oak Foundation mourns the loss of Terry Anastas. Terry was an instrumental advisor for our Board of Directors; and was deeply committed, passionate and selfless in guiding the development of Pin Oak Foundation from its very beginning. He will be truly and sorely missed. We pray for and lift up his family, friends and loved ones at this time.

GRATITUDE! We are thankful to the Tracy Family Foundation for awarding a grant toward the purchase of a passenger trailer for use in outdoor recreational and educational activities at Gardner Camp!

“We are so grateful to the Tracy Family Foundation and Pin Oak Foundation in supporting our youth outdoor education program. Ensuring that all children have access to the outdoors was the vision of Mr. John Willis "Jack" Gardner, II, when creating Gardner Camp. This grant is extremely helpful in bringing his vision to life. We are now able to transport youth to outdoor classrooms that were previously inaccessible,” states Amy Lefringhouse, Gardner Camp’s Executive Director.
