Today, the world mourns the loss of an extraordinary and devoted servant of God…Pope Francis, the first Jesuit to ascend to the Papacy. As a product of Jesuit education, I feel this loss deeply.

Pope Francis was more than a religious leader; he was a voice of conscience in a world too often divided. Grounded in the Jesuit ideals of humility, service, and intellectual courage, he championed a Church that walks with the poor, uplifts the marginalized, and faces the complexities of modern life with both compassion and conviction.

He reminded us that faith is not about walls, but bridges. That leadership is not about power, but presence. And that tradition is not stagnant…it is living, breathing, and evolving through love.

May we honor his memory by continuing to “go to the margins,” to live lives of meaning and service, and to carry forward the light he shared with the world.
