RIVER FUND
Feeding and empowering those we serve to move beyond the lines of poverty. Food poverty is no longer a problem for only low-income New Yorkers.
The River Fund served more than 81,000 people in 2009 and based on current trends for food insufficiency, over 100,000 people in 2010 and increasing numbers every year after. Current economic strains are affecting middle-income New Yorkers with increasing difficulty in affording food. Food insufficiency precipitates diet-related conditions such as diabetes, obesity and hypertension and reduces possibilities for a healthy lifestyle, especially among women, children, seniors, the working poor and people with disabilities. We expect to meet our client's growing needs in 2010 and beyond. We hope you will support us in reaching our goals:
*receiving and storing more products
*increasing distribution services
*feeding more people and
*enhancing our programs
The River Fund feeds and empowers those we serve to move beyond the lines of poverty:
*children
*the homeless
*low-income seniors
*working poor families
*children and adults living with HIV/AIDS
Towards this end, we support and affirm all people with equal regard to age, gender, creed, ethnic origin and sexual orientation. No donation is ever too small. Please help us make a difference in the lives of people who live in hunger. If you need additional information, please give us a call on 718.441.1125

42 million Americans are expected to lose their SNAP benefits tomorrow, November 1, due to government cuts, leaving millions of families, seniors, and children struggling to afford basic meals.
When SNAP is taken away stability for our neighbors and our community is also taken away.
SNAP benefits are a lifeline.

What a night! ✨
Our 2025 RIVER FUND Gala brought together friends, partners, and neighbors to celebrate our MISSION and COMMUNITY.
We were enormously proud to honor Jill, Harry, Sadie, Fletcher, and Ivy Kargman — a family whose unwavering commitment to service continues to strengthen the fabric of our city.
From Board Member Harold Ford, Jr.’s call to turn care into ACTION, to Mary C. Tiedemann Graduates Aaishah and Alisha Mahadeo sharing what it means to feel safe, seen, and supported, every moment reminded us why RIVER FUND’s work matters.
And as Swami closed the evening: “The best part of who we are is in the caring of each other.”
Cherished partners and dearest friends , , and and everyone at helped to it a most memorable and meaningful evening...
It is with the generosity of our entire COMMUNITY, RIVER FUND continues to meet families where they are - helping them move beyond the lines of poverty with dignity.
Together, we look ahead to our next chapter: building the RIVER FUND Community Empowerment Center, a permanent home where Our Mission will continue to grow stronger.
