Another fun and small project that I've wanted to do for a while is now finished up. White oak and walnut board with a cherry border. This is up for sale too. PM me if you're interested

Hey everyone, Christmas is coming soon and I have a few boards ready to take home. Let me know if you're interested.

Look at this gorgeous walnut keyboard stand the hubs made. He continues to blow me away. He added the detail of tapered legs and brass dowels to give a mid century look to it. This piece is a perfect way to disguise the keyboard.

Completely forgot to post a photos of the counters and tile work when we finished it. This was taken at night so there’s a lack of natural light- I love the pattern we chose for the tile, and of course the gorgeous butcher block we made.
I’m trying to post more, it’s challenging to find a balance of social media and personal life. I want to be present, and I also was to share our life with so many. To be private, and also generously share. It’s all so juxtaposing.
Now that we are opening our home up to people again, watching the memories that are being created while huddling around this butcher block island I can’t help but feel an immense sense of pride. As I reflect on the time we took to hand pick each piece of walnut, cut it, plane it, glue it, sand it… and eventually bring it to life in our home. I am thankful. As the world opens back up, I find my creativity being once again ignited and I look forward to embracing that and hopefully (while keeping balance) share more projects, and decor.

My husbands grandfather bought this for his soon to be wife (husbands grandma) for her graduation from high school in 1951. I’m sure throughout the year it held items she treasured. Heirlooms are things to treasure. They hold stories that write the chapters of our lives. Nothing in my home is mid century decor and I love how this piece fits amongst the rustic pieces we have.

I moved her bed and out a plant behind her to make room for the Christmas tree that goes in our room. She is not having it. She spent most of the day sleeping with her back facing us. Needless to say, it’s a Monday. Anyone else have super dramatic dogs?

I had another photo picked out to post, but I couldn’t resist this one. Rhea the dog saw me in the kitchen and snuck in the photo to tell me she wants a treat. This was suppose to showcase the pizza paddle.
🦴
So, lets talk about that gorgeous maple pizza paddle. There’s a local hardwood supplier that we frequent, this paddle was made from some of the ugliest parts of those boards. Sometimes you have to look beyond what you see and imagine the possibilities of what could be. All it took was some chiseling, shaping, epoxy fill, sanding, and conditioning…. And here she is.
🦴
Oh and Rhea (ray-yuh) she is a 1.5 year old GSD. She loves long walks, chasing flies, barking at leaves, and playing fetch. She is afraid of baths, large trucks, balloons, blow up holiday yard decor, pools, tiny dogs, and sprinklers. She rescued us when she was 10 weeks old from a local shelter. Perfect timing- she came into our lives mid February 2020, just weeks before the shutdown. She is a great addition to our family and we are so thankful for her.

Getting the house ready for some guests today. I’m so thankful our home will be used for entertaining again, it’s been too long.
🥳
I don’t know about you all, but here we are really looking forward to school being out. We have just a couple more days, and I’m counting down the minutes. We have had to face adversity, fight for peace, and stand up for things we never thought we would need to. We are ready for summer
🥳
One of my kids had the opportunity to end the year early. When I approached him, his response was “I want to finish strong and leave nothing left”. I admire his strength and work ethic, so I’m choosing to push forward and give the tough things I’m facing that kind of attitude.
🥳
Whatever you’re facing, don’t give up- leave nothing left, and finish strong. It’s worth it.

Check mate!
We made this chessboard out of leftover hardwood we had from some projects. I’m so happy someone or using it, and enjoying it.
♟
Now that we have finished the kitchen, I’ll be posting some behind the scenes construction of the butcher block- we have been getting a lot of questions about how we made it, hopefully some pics will help visually deconstruct it for you.
🔨
We are going to be starting our next project soon, our son has been asking for an overhaul on his closet. We have so much extra plywood, I’m not even sure we will need to do a hardware store trip. We will be posting pics as we build!
