Really proud of my students this semester. These ten intrepid souls embarked on an intense semester in my course “Geometry and Ornament” that I teach each spring at UVU for the architecture department. Their final projects applied the skills they learned to the design of a decorative architectural element inspired by one of several case studies we examined over the semester.

Messing around with Kepler’s pentagonal tessellation. Hopefully this will be done in time to enter it into the Spring Salon at !

Students in my complex geometry class at should recognise all the elements of this tiling and can perhaps think of how it could be elaborated upon with the three star/rosettes we have studied.

Stretching my geometry explorations in a completely new direction with @ and at today. It is fascinating to explore an entirely different system of thinking about proportion after so many years. Today we are looking at the Tuscan order.
