Today is Reading Day. We asked BYU students what they're reading on Reading Day, what are you reading?

A man took control of a police car during an arrest for possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a firearm. He was handcuffed in the back of the car, but managed to get a hand free and jumped into the front seat and started to drive the car. One of the officers involved in the arrest jumped into the back seat and shocked him. When that didn’t work, the officer hit the suspect in the head with a weapon. The suspect then rolled out of the car onto the road. He is in the hospital and will be charged after he is released.

Large waves crashed into a restaurant in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii on June 2. The waves crashed over cars, hit some pedestrians and crashed into the restaurant windows. The waves were the peak of a swell generated from strong weather south of New Zealand.

A trailer transporting fireworks on Interstate 75 in Tennessee erupted in flames on June 6. The fireworks inside the trailer started exploding, which forced the highway to shut down. No injuries were reported.
