We call ourselves Nuts For Tagua...but what is TAGUA?! Tagua is a nut grown from a tree known as the "plant elephant". It goes by this name because the Tagua nut that it produces is very similar to elephant ivory. The Tagua nut grows in a brown, flaky casing that is removed after falling from the tree. Then Ecuadorean craftsmen hand shape and dye the Tagua nuts, which is why no single piece is exactly the same.
