Trim Time Tip “Mow High and Water Deeply”

1. Mow High
*Taller grass shades the soil, retains moisture and helps choke out w**ds like crabgrass.
* It also encourages deeper root growth, making your lawn more drought-resistant.

2. Water Deeply and Infrequently

* Aim for 1.5-2 inches of water per week.
* Deep watering encourages deep roots, which are crucial in summer heat.

Trim Time Tip: “Mulch clippings”

Why mulch? Because it's:

-Healthier for your lawn (those clippings are full of nutrients!)
-Just as clean-looking as bagging
-Faster and more efficient
-Less wasteful—no bags, no landfill trips
-Bagging takes away what your lawn needs. Mulching gives it right back

Trim Time Tip: “Get your water right”
Watering is the number 1 priority to having a healthy lawn. It’s important to check your coverage each spring to verify things are working correctly. As you set your timer remember the 12321 method. Water 1 day per week in early spring, 2 days mid/late spring, 3 days per week in the summer, 2 per week in early fall and 1 day per week in mid fall. When temps are below 70 water 1 day per week. 70-80 water 2 days per week. When temps are above 85 water 3 days per week. It’s important to watch the future temperatures and adjust your water before it gets drought stress. Watering correctly can make all the difference in having a great looking lawn.

Spring Lawn Aeration is right around the corner. Aerating your lawn at least once per year promotes strong, deep root growth for a healthy lawn. Lawn aeration allows water and oxygen to better pe*****te soil to get to roots. Soil gets compact over time which weakens your lawn. Allow Trim Time to loosen the soil so roots can grow strong. Call to set up a time for us to come give your lawn the extra boost it needs this spring.
