Have you ever wondered what you would say if you had the opportunity to go back in time and speak to the younger YOU?
What words would bring you the most comfort, peace, motivation, and courage?
Sometimes we are pretty hard on ourselves. We are much harder ourselves than we are on others! We say some pretty terrible things in our heads, but will often forgive others in a heartbeat
It might help if you think of yourself as that young child because- guess what?! That young child is still very much a part of YOU.
Everything that child endured and accomplished made you who you are today.
What words would you say to yourself to provide some hope and encouragement along life’s journey?
I know I would say to the younger me (pictured below):
Be YOU.
Don’t be afraid to make mistakes and disappoint others (you’re going to!)
Take a deep breathe and have some courage. 💪 You’ll get through this even though some days it feels like you won’t.
Know that you’re always loved, wanted, and cherished. 🥰

Please like and share this. This is a therapy group/program for women struggling with sexual addiction that I’ve created and that I will be leading. Starts March 30th!
Happy Valentine’s Day! ❤️
Know your spouse or partner’s love language!!
One of the most common problems I see in couples therapy is that one or both partners feel unloved and unwanted because they are not speaking each other’s love languages.

Fascinating article about sexual arousal templates!
According to Patrick Carnes, Ph.D., author of Facing the Shadow: Starting S*xual and Relationship Recovery, an arousal template consists of "the total constellation of thoughts, images, behaviors, sounds, smells, sights, fantasies, and objects that arouse us sexually."
Arousal Templates in S*x Addiction An arousal template consists of all that arouses us sexually.

Real, lasting change occurs when the pain of the problem (whether that is addiction, an unhealthy or abusive relationship, anxiety, unresolved trauma) becomes greater or more intense than the pain of the solution (changing behavioral patterns or relationships).
In other words, people often do not decide to change until they have hit rock bottom or experienced loss in some sort of way. This is especially true for addiction.

The hook up culture is dramatically changing the dating scene. Now, young adults and single adults are not really even dating, and out of fear of real emotional connection, they have lost the ability and desire to move through the proper stages of courtship.
This disordered courtship process comes with all kinds of problems such as stds, unwanted pregnancy but most importantly emotional injury (depression, anxiety, PTSD symptoms, breakdown of self esteem, etc.) due to feeling used, being ghosted, or being objectified in these encounters.
“Hooking up is nothing more than settling; it is the microwaveable burrito of sex.” -Shannon T. Boodram
Thoughts are welcome as to how this culture has affected your life or just the dating scene in general!
