Finding Christ
Uplifting music and stories from fellow Christians around the world!
"Brothers and sisters, we are surrounded by a perilous tsunami—not one of rushing, murderous water, but one as dangerous and lethal. We live in a society swarming with false teachings, worldly ideas, and moral degradation. We have been taught the truth, and we are under covenant. It is our time to be valiant. In Mosiah 4:10 we are instructed it is not enough just to believe in truth, we must act on it to help those in our communities and neighborhoods and among our friends and family—both of our faith and not of our faith. The words of King Benjamin admonish us, “If you believe all these things see that ye do them” (Mosiah 4:10).
I testify as a convert to this Church that, often unbeknownst to us, we are surrounded by those who are hungry to hear the truths of the gospel—as I was—and that the words you speak will be sweet to them whom you are given to instruct and that your words have the capacity to bless and change lives." “If you desire it with all your heart, God will guide you through this mortal life, and He will wait with open arms to embrace you in the Resurrection. No matter our shortcomings, no matter our flaws, God can heal, inspire, and cleanse us. For He is the God of new beginnings.” Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf | Five Messages That All of God’s Children Need to Hear | BYU Devotional given August 17, 2021

“No pain that we suffer, no trial that we experience is wasted. It ministers to our education, to the development of such qualities as patience, faith, fortitude and humility. All that we suffer and all that we endure, especially when we endure it patiently, builds up our characters, purifies our hearts, expands our souls, and makes us more tender and charitable, more worthy to be called the children of God . . . and it is through sorrow and suffering, toil and tribulation, that we gain the education that we come here to acquire and which will make us more like our Father and Mother in Heaven.” ― Orson F. "We must pray for the Lord to guide and bless all nations and their leaders. This is part of our article of faith. Being subject to presidents or rulers of course poses no obstacle to our opposing individual laws or policies. It does require that we exercise our influence civilly and peacefully within the framework of our constitutions and applicable laws. On contested issues, we should seek to moderate and unify.
There are other duties that are part of upholding the inspired Constitution. We should learn and advocate the inspired principles of the Constitution. We should seek out and support wise and good persons who will support those principles in their public actions. We should be knowledgeable citizens who are active in making our influence felt in civic affairs.
In the United States and in other democracies, political influence is exercised by running for office (which we encourage), by voting, by financial support, by membership and service in political parties, and by ongoing communications to officials, parties, and candidates. To function well, a democracy needs all of these, but a conscientious citizen does not need to provide all of them.
There are many political issues, and no party, platform, or individual candidate can satisfy all personal preferences. Each citizen must therefore decide which issues are most important to him or her at any particular time. Then members should seek inspiration on how to exercise their influence according to their individual priorities. This process will not be easy. It may require changing party support or candidate choices, even from election to election." President Dallin H. Oaks | Defending Our Divinely Inspired Constitution | April 2021 General Conference
