Time again for our monthly meet-up! Here’s the agenda:

🫶If Geneva Road was a Taylor Swift song, what song would it be? Grace Tueller will share her observations of walking all the streets of Provo through the lyrics of Taylor Swift.

🚸 Heather Skabelund will report on how Bike, Walk, Roll to School Week went.

🚌 Ava Romney and others will share a status report on how bike buses are going across the city.

Kudos to Orem City and Provo City for collaborating to complete the West Union Canal Bikeway, a border-crossing active transportation route between the two cities on the hill between the Grandview and Cherry Hill Neighborhoods. Orem recently extended a wide sidewalk to connect to the cut-through from 2000 S in Orem to 1500 W in Provo. This route is now a great way to get move around by foot, bike, and scooter.

Inspired by the cross-block path between 800 and 900 E in the Joaquin Neighborhood, BikeWalk Provo was working on improving the social path that connected 2000 S to 1500 W a few years ago. As it did so, BWP learned that Provo was going to require a developer of the property to the east to punch 1500 W through to 2000 S in Orem. Realizing that Grandview residents, who were/are suffering from speeders through the neighborhood, would be opposed to the idea, BWP helped city council member Travis Hoban mobilize the neighborhood against the requirement. BWP also pushed for a pathway to be built. Thankfully, city leaders and unnecessary, danger-increasing road was not pushed through and good things were built.

Provo City completed the path, placed the yellow bollards to prevent cars from driving through, and installed facing along the canal. And now Orem has extended the pathway. Hurrah!!!

Now it’s time for the cities to continue their collaboration and sign and mark a bikeway that connects 1500 W to 400 E in Orem via this pathway, right on 2000 S, left up 424 E, left on 1864 S, and quick right onto 400. Such a route will better connect neighbors in each city—for example, Provolens to Orem’s commercial area along University Parkway and Oremites to the Provo River Trail and beyond.

Today is the start of Bike to School Week

Our bike bus made the podcast!

A few of our amazing volunteers joined Provo City School District Superintendent Wendy Dau to talk all things BIKE BUS!

They shared what makes the Timpanogos Elementary Bike Bus so special — kids riding to school together, building confidence and independence, learning how to safely navigate our streets, and (most importantly) having a ton of fun doing it.

We’re incredibly grateful for the volunteers who make these bike buses happen and help create a culture where biking and walking to school feels normal, safe, and FUN.

Bike, Walk, Roll to School Week is next week!

September 14–18, students across Provo are encouraged to ditch the car and bike, walk, or roll to school.

It’s a fun way to start the day, get some fresh air, and show how many trips to school can happen without a car.

🚲🛴 ¡La Semana de Ir en Bicicleta, Caminar y Rodar a la Escuela es la próxima semana!

Del 14 al 18 de septiembre, invitamos a los estudiantes de Provo a dejar el auto y andar en bicicleta, caminar o rodar a la escuela.

Es una manera divertida de empezar el día, disfrutar del aire libre y demostrar cuántos viajes a la escuela se pueden hacer sin auto.

¡Oye Provo, vamos a rodar!

Thanks to Provo City for adding more lighting and additional signage to the crosswalks at 300 and 400 W on 500 N, and to those who advocated for these safety improvements.
