A remodel can get awkward pretty quickly if the old and new pieces are not thought through together.

For this home, the goal was to work with the existing footprint while still giving the design a clear direction. The stone, views, and primary suite area help everything feel like one finished home, not a series of add-ons.

For this home, the slope gave us a good reason to break the layout into multiple levels. It helped the house work with the lot, created better views, and made the central stair feel like a real part of the design instead of just something you pass through.

Big windows often get treated like they're just a design feature.

In reality, they're one of the things that can have the biggest impact on how a home feels.

For this project, the goal wasn't simply to add more glass. It was to bring more natural light into the main living spaces, frame the views, and create a stronger connection to the landscape outside.

The important part is that those decisions have to happen early. The layout, structure, and window placement all need to work together. If you wait until the end of the design process, you're usually just fitting windows into the house instead of designing the house around them.
