People’s Library of Wanskuck Library update: Project Sustainability - please note this a People’s Garden
Seven volunteers were at the People’s Garden at Wanskuck Library on Sunday (9-11am) with URI-Master Gardener, Ryan Peters. All attention turned to the roofline of Veazie Street Elementary School when Friend + bird enthusiast spotted a crow trying to antagonize a hawk to no avail!
The volunteers will meet at the library for the next 2 weeks before switching to 5:30-7:30pm come July 2 to beat the heat. Speaking of volunteers, a special shout-out goes to our library patron, Ken, for adjusting a corner of the patio which had settled to a sloop over the winter - yay!!!
Calling all community members to stop by to check out the progress of the People’s Garden… this project was created for the involvement + enjoyment of the public. URI-MG Project has designed a mostly Native New England planting as an environmental corridor for pollinators in a once-barren area.
This awesome community project has entered the sustainability stage of care management which enables multigenerational participation. Please let me know if you can gift 1-2 hours within your weekly or biweekly schedule to water veggies or w**d? Email Denise at [email protected] or drop by during the weekly schedule to get involved!
