Senate’s Warwick delegation provides statement on strike vote by T.F. Green food service workers

STATE HOUSE – Senator Peter A. Appollonio Jr. (D-Dist. 29, Warwick), Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Matthew L. LaMountain (D-Dist. 31, Warwick, Cranston) and Senate Rules, Government Ethics & Oversight Committee Chairman Mark McKenney (D-Dist. 30, Warwick) today issued the following statement regarding the strike authorization vote by food service workers at Rhode Island T.F. Green International Airport:

“We stand with the food service workers, who have been without a contract for more than a year. Like everyone, they deserve fair working conditions and compensation. As the excitement over the World Cup has again demonstrated, the tourism and hospitality industry is extremely important for our state, and the workers who keep it running strong – including the airport’s food service workers – deserve to be treated fairly. We urge all parties to continue negotiations and to come to terms on a fair contract agreement.”
