Our mission is to create safety, belonging and permanency for adopted and foster children. Children First. And Always!

Adoption Rhode Island is a private non-profit agency dedicated to finding families or other permanent connections for children and older youth in foster care. frWe also provide child, youth and family support services, education, training, advocacy, and referrals. We are proud to have found adoptive families for thousands of children, over the years, but there are hundreds of others in Rhode Island at any given time who need forever families.

It’s about that time… Save the Date for the 11th annual Duffle Bag Bash! 🎒✨

Far too often, children and youth that live in foster care or residential placements carry their belongings in a trash bag. By providing these youths with their own duffle bags or rolling suitcases, they have a way to safely transport their personal belongings when moving to a new place. Help us show them that we care!

The cost of admission to this incredible day of fun with the community is simple a brand new rolling suitcase / duffle bag or a $25 gift card.

National Reunification Month is an opportunity to honor the strength and resilience of families who have come together after separation. It also highlights the care, support, and commitment that reunification entails.

While Adoption Rhode Island primarily focuses on adoption, guardianship, and relational permanency for youth transitioning from foster care, we also actively support the vital process of reunification.

Here are some ways we facilitate this process across our programs:

Family Finding: As part of our permanency initiatives, in addition to identifying extended family members, we have worked to reconnect fathers who were eager to be involved or re-involved in their children's lives.

Supporting Older Youth and Young Adults: We help rebuild relationships with birth parents who may have faced challenges in the past. Creating opportunities for healing in these relationships is essential.

Behavioral Health and Wellness Programs: We offer clinical and parental support services that assist in the safe reunification of children and their parents.

When reunification is deemed in the child's best interest, it’s crucial that both children and families receive appropriate resources, guidance, and support tailored to their unique needs. Successful reunification can be a transformative step toward healing and growth for everyone involved.
