Meet Pequeño — a tiny name for a cat with a huge personality! This boy is full of confidence, curiosity, and nonstop energy. He’s the type of cat who wants to be involved in everything and is always ready for his next adventure.

Pequeño is playful, active, and always on the move. He loves to run, climb, chase toys, and stay busy, and he’ll need a home that can keep up with his energetic lifestyle. Because he can play a little rough and gets very excited during playtime, we think he would do best in an adult only home.

This fun-loving guy will thrive in a home that offers lots of enrichment and outlets for his busy brain. Tall cat trees, shelves to climb, wand toys, treat puzzles, food-dispensing toys, and daily interactive play will all help keep Pequeño happy and fulfilled. He’s not a couch potato — he’s looking for a home that will embrace his spirited personality and give him opportunities to stay engaged.

Pequeño has lived with other animals before and would likely do best with another playful feline friend in the home to help match his energy and keep him company.

Our small animal population is growing, and lately we’ve seen an increase in rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, and other small pets being surrendered to our care.

Many people don’t realize that small animals require specialized care, housing, enrichment, and veterinary attention. As a result, shelters across the country are seeing record numbers of these pets in need of new homes—and PARL is no exception.

Right now, we have a wonderful variety of smallies waiting for families of their own. While they may be small in size, their care needs are significant, and every surrender means additional food, bedding, medical care, and housing that your support helps provide.

If you’ve been considering adding a small companion to your family, now is a great time to adopt. Not ready to adopt? Consider opening your home as a foster. Fostering helps free up valuable shelter space, allows animals to relax in a home environment, and gives us the opportunity to help even more small pets in need. Whether you can foster for a few weeks or a few months, your support can make a life-changing difference.

And if fostering or adopting isn’t possible right now, sharing this post or making a donation can help us continue caring for the growing number of small animals arriving at our doors.

These little ones may be easy to overlook, but they deserve the same chance at a loving home as every cat and dog in our care. ❤️

🐾 On Friday, we welcomed a transport of 17 cats and kittens from our rescue partners, Wonder Paws Rescue , all the way from Florida!

These cats made the long journey in search of brighter futures, and we’re so grateful to work alongside dedicated rescue partners who help give animals a second chance. Over the coming days, our team will be getting everyone settled in, providing any needed medical care, and learning more about their unique personalities.

Transports like these are an important part of animal welfare. By partnering with shelters and rescues in areas facing overcrowding, we’re able to help more animals find adoptive homes while also creating space for pets in need in both communities. Every transport represents lives saved and new opportunities for animals who may otherwise wait much longer for a family.

None of this would be possible without the support of our community. Donations help provide food, medical care, vaccinations, supplies, and safe shelter for animals like these from the moment they arrive until the day they go home. Your generosity helps make lifesaving transports possible and ensures we’re able to continue saying “yes” when animals need us most.

It feels like just yesterday these two could fit in the palm of your hand, and now look at them! Gooseberry and Raspberry have grown into gorgeous young rabbits with big ears, curious personalities, and plenty of love to give.

From tiny baby buns to confident, adorable youngsters, they’ve been patiently waiting for a family of their own. We honestly can’t believe these sweet siblings are still available for adoption!

If you’ve been thinking about adding a bunny (or two!) to your family, Gooseberry and Raspberry are ready to hop right into your heart. 🩷

🧂🖤 Meet Salt & Pepper 🖤🧂

Salt and Pepper are a classic duo — and just like their namesake, they’re better together!

These adorable young adult guinea pig boys are estimated to be a little over 2 years old and are looking for a home where they can continue their favorite pastime: being best friends. One minute they’re snuggled up side by side, and the next they’re playfully chasing each other away from the best bunk bed view in town!

Like most guinea pigs, Salt and Pepper can be a little shy when meeting new people. But with patience, quiet hangout sessions, and plenty of tasty snacks, they quickly warm up and become chatty little companions who will happily greet you and follow your every move.

These boys are also quite the athletes! Salt and Pepper love showing off their “parkour” skills by climbing on top of hidey houses, exploring every corner of their space, chewing on apple sticks, and sharing meals side by side. They're always entertaining and full of personality.

Salt and Pepper are currently thriving in a foster home, and honestly, we can't believe no one has scooped them up yet! They're handsome, hilarious, and have so much love (and commentary) to share with the right family.

Meet Miss Mia!
Mia is a true gem and she’s spent the last nine years of her life learning how to be the perfect companion and best friend. Mia is friendly, calm, and has the occasional playful burst of energy to keep things fun. She has previously done well living with other dogs and cats. Mia is great with kids - polite, tolerant, and friendly - and would do well in a variety of homes.

Missy Snort Snort has been living her best foster life while counting down to a very important milestone—her surgery date is quickly approaching! ❤️

From cozy naps and couch snuggles to exploring the yard and showing off her signature smile, Snorty has been enjoying every moment with her foster family. While she’s still her happy, goofy self, we’re all looking forward to the day she can breathe more comfortably and enjoy an even better quality of life.

We also want to take a moment to say thank you. Because of the incredible support from our community, we’ve been able to raise the funds needed to move forward with Snorty’s surgery. Your donations, shares, kind words, and encouragement have made this possible, and we couldn’t be more grateful.

As we get closer to surgery day, please keep Snorty in your thoughts. We can’t wait to share updates on her journey and celebrate this next chapter together!
