Fantastic time at the Providence Flea!
These Saugys are challenging the hot weiner on the hot dog power charts, and the colors in the Tropical Liquors photo are perfect (and perfect for the basement play room! Lol)

Wow. Now THIS is interesting
Rhode Island will not lose a seat in the US House of Representatives - The Boston Globe The smallest state was expected to go from the most over-represented to the most under-represented in the nation, but instead will keep both Congressional seats

The RI Lieutenant Governor Vacancy is unique.
Here's why:
- The Office of the LG doesn't have much (if any) unilateral power
- Appointments are not competitions of ideas decided by the public, but decisions made by an appointing authority
- A Lieutenant Governor commonly runs for Governor
- You normally know who is running for an office through public declarations, but this process was originally a private, online application
So, the Governor, as the appointing authority, needs to choose someone that they can trust will not hold adverse interests for potentially 10 years.
More importantly, even though the Office of LG does not have much, if any, unilateral powers, it does have resources.
So, the Governor, at the appointing authority, can choose someone who will use the resources of the Office of LG to support the Office of Governor.
This is not how it normally works in RI. Normally the LG is trying to make a name for themselves or is trying to advocate for a specific policy agenda and declares as much through their public campaign for office.
Instead, the current vacancy is much simpler. Mid-pandemic, at the outset of a potential 10 year term of Office for Governor, the real question is:
Who is the most capable person to utilize the resources of the Office of LG to support the Office of Governor, and therefore the interests of the State of Rhode Island?
That is why I applied. I am simply offering the incoming Governor whatever help he may need that I might be able to provide. I am honored to be listed alongside such esteemed Rhode Islanders. No matter who is chosen, if I can ever help, please let me know!
If I am chosen, I would love to speak with each of you to pick your brains on what comes next, and how I could help.
