Rhode Island State Referee Committee

We had an incredibly successful week representing Rhode Island at the 2025 East Regional Championship last week in Loudoun County, Virginia!

Six referees were selected for playoff assignments after an intense three-day group stage, including four semi-final assignments and two finals assignments!

Additionally, Julianna Roa will represent Rhode Island at this month's USYS National Championships in Orlando, Florida for the second-straight year!

For Referee's missing a 2025 badge, our SRA will be at Mckinnon-Alves field in Pawtucket this Saturday, May 3rd, from 8am - 1 pm. You can collect it in person there! For others, we have confirmed the badges are in the final stages of mailing.

After joining the Massachusetts Soccer Referee Committee in 2021, Kara Honthumb helped to shape our referee instructional program into what it is today. As a national referee coach of 7 years, Kara has implemented her passion and fresh perspective to positively impact the education and growth of referees throughout our organization. Please join us in congratulating her on her new role with the U.S. Soccer Referee Committee as the Manager of Refereeing Education and Development! Though she will be deeply missed, we look forward to seeing her expand her influence to a national capacity.

The RISRC is so proud of all our officials! We would like to take a moment though, to highlight the success of Julianna Roa and Rory Neuner at the recent USYS NAL CHAMPIONSHIP. Both officials were selected as part of the Women's Initiative to represent the state, with Julianna being selected to attend the Generation Adidas Cup in April!

In addition, GY Burgo attending the Disney Showcase Tournament in FL and knocked it out of the park!
