Hi! Dailen here! I like Blue Objects. 🌀

I've been about a million things, and right now I'm a musician, DJ, sound artist, researcher, educator, and third-space organizer!

I think about spaces for people almost as much as I think about sounds, having helped create some local nice zones for people to connect in.

Currently I'm running a tiny sound school that lives in a slightly-less-tiny collectively-run venue / sound-focused community center. They are and .pvd , respectively.

[ Slide 13] : I've been looking into how instruments are built, with a keen interest in woodwinds! I've actually made a couple mangey flutes that I adore deeply. Technically a u-lock is kinda like a sideblown xun with a single tone hole.

[ Slide 16] : I've been playing with how the apps we use everyday might be sound sources in performance or grotesque fonts of inspiration. I have a favorite IG glitch that continues to play the audio from an ad over anything you look at in the advertisers page. In that video I'm looking for fun rhythms and accompaniments.

This year I learned that at their core humans are generally good.

And by transitive property I must also be good, and by that same transitive property every person that I meet must be good as well.

Lean into love and forgive yourself. The rest will follow. :)

"Lately" is a long time.

Hey y'all!

There's a movie on Monday (tomorrow). "Paris is Burning", (1990) ! I've never seen it. I do documentary screenings at now because there's still so much for me to learn, and I figured we could do it together.

Also, I'm playing a show for the first time in a bit this weekend at .pvd . I like working on that community project with my friends a lot.

Oh, and here's what I've witnessed, loved, and thought about the pay few weeks.

It's been a big year! Instead of working on music I've been taking notes, doing research, and filling out forms.

Meeting after meeting spent collaborating with friends, laughing, interating, panicking, and now we have a tiny baby music / DJ school called , and it lives in a shiny and cute new venue called Pyxis..!

In these uncertain times continuing to create spaces where we can learn, share, and grow together is instrumental and crucial to keeping our spirits alive. And I don't just mean for music.
