I used to lie awake at night, tossing and turning over what tomorrow might bring.
I would worry about what could happen, what might happen and everything in between.
I would overthink myself to the point of sheer exhaustion, unable to sleep or rest because I couldn’t shut my mind off.
I would spend so much energy on the possibilities of tomorrow that I would have nothing left for today..
Until living that way finally broke me.
Broken into countless pieces from worrying and letting my thoughts get the best of me, I finally realized that I couldn’t keep going this way..
And though it wasn’t easy and it still isn’t, I’ve found a way past all the anxiety of tomorrow’s unknowns.
Truly, I thought back to all the times when the worst things in my life happened..
I was always fine on the other side.
I managed to find a way to overcome, adapt and keep going.
That’s the moment that I finally understood that the stress I was causing myself wasn’t going to change anything and that no matter what, I’d always be okay.
Maybe it wouldn’t be pretty, maybe it wouldn’t always turn out the way I expected, but I could handle anything..
I had proven that to myself time and time again.
I’m not going to say that I don’t overthink anymore because that never truly goes away, but I’ve learned not to let the worry consume me any more.
I had been letting my thoughts control me instead of me being in charge of what I was thinking.
And slowly, as I became okay with letting the future be unknown, I found some peace amidst the storms of life.
My days aren’t always easy and I’ve got plenty of challenges, but at least now, I can keep them in perspective and not let the bad thoughts ruin my days.
It can rain, maybe even pour, but I’ve finally learned to start dancing in the rain..
Strong, proud and free.

Most of you know that I am also a full time Dental Hygienist (ironic right)😂
Helping people smile has always been a passion of mine, as has mission work. While in hygiene school, I had the opportunity to go to Nicaragua on a medical mission trip. It was truly inspiring and humbling. It has been on my heart for a long time to do another one. Well the time has come! B&D is excited to announce that we will sponsoring a dental mission trip to Belize in January 2018! Myself, along with 10 other Hygienists are headed to Belize to provide dental hygiene services to the people of the Belize Votech, Cayo Christian Academy and The Valley of Peace!!!
