Fort Worth, Texas, we’ve got something really special to share 🤎🪴📚

and I are heading to the iconic Fort Worth Stockyards on Thursday, May 7th for a book signing at the Pendleton store on their ONE YEAR anniversary! We played hooky and were there on opening day last year, shopping and celebrating the grand opening of the ONLY Pendleton store in Texas. Now we get to come back and celebrate with them. How fun!

Pendleton has long been one of our favorite brands, and getting to spend an evening with their team and all of y’all is so special. TTP was born just blocks away from THE Pendleton Woolen Mills in Pendleton, OR! Talk about a full circle moment! 🤣

📍 Pendleton – Fort Worth Stockyards
📚 Thursday, May 7 from 4-9 pm
📖 Book signing + meet & greet
🛍 Books available for purchase, or bring your own to be signed

Fort Worth, Texas we can’t wait to see y’all!

👋🏼President of Tanner The Planter’s Houseplant Club here! Just checking if getting paid in kisses is standard policy?

Also, if this is my official compensation package, I’m never leaving this job!😍

So happy 3 of our 4 were able to be at the 📚book launch on Tuesday night.🤩

Our girls have seen this dream come to life for us. Something that maybe will happen just once in our lifetime is so special to celebrate together.

Even though he’s getting married next month, Noah was able to fly in from NY for a quick visit!

We are grateful For the Love of Family. ❤️🫶🏻

🤩Local pickup customers-thank you so much for hanging in there with us as we get our bearings after this sudden shift in operations. Moving our shipping office into our retail store has been a big change, and we truly appreciate your patience and support as we figure things out. Things are going well-much better than our positive minded hearts even expected!

Moving forward, we’ll be referring to our Broadway property (formerly known as Famous In Oregon) as the 📦Ship Shop. So when you hear us mention it, you’ll know exactly what we’re talking about 😉

We appreciate you all more than you know. Here’s what we have dialed in so far:

Local customers can pick up their Live Sale purchases and drop off/pick up repots at the 📦Ship Shop during the following hours:

Sunday: 9 AM–5 PM
Monday–Thursday: 9 AM–6 PM
Friday: 11 AM–6 PM
Saturday: Closed

Please note that these hours are subject to change as we continue settling in and finding out what our needs are.

Thank you again for your understanding and support! We’ve got this!🤩 💛

I don’t think I’ll ever be able to fully capture the magic of our very first book signing event in a single post but I had to start somewhere.

The Victorian shined so bright. She stood tall and proud amidst all the controversy around her recently. It was one of those perfect nights. The weather, the energy, the people, everything just came together so beautifully. Seeing so many of you gathered, celebrating a shared love of houseplants, was something really special we won’t ever forget.🪴

I’m still sorting through all the incredible photos (and there are a lot!), so I’ll be sharing more over the next few days. But for now, I just want to say how grateful we are. Staff-we love you! Every single member of our team played a part in making this night happen, and it wouldn’t have been possible without them. You have been our priority over the past week of uncertainty we’ve had and you showed way up for us.

For the Love of Houseplants has been doing so well, and after experiencing a night like this, especially as our first book signing event, we’re even more excited (and a little blown away🥺) thinking about the upcoming signings at venues that do these kinds of things all the time.

What an incredible, joyful night. We can’t wait to do it again. 🌿

Armed with the best staff you could ask for-we really did it! 🥳

Here’s the timeline:
Thursday 3:30-Meeting with the city/found out we had to cease operations out of our shipping office immediately.

Friday-Waited/hoped for resolution from the city while planning steps to liquidate inventory to make room for our shipping operations to be moved to the storefront in case there was no resolution.

Saturday-Liquidation Sale 40% off everything in the store. 189 transactions cleaned us out. Closed at 3:30 due to no more inventory.

Sunday-Our regular Sunday crew came in and we moved all our shipping operations in to the storefront. We treated our team to lunch with the cash in the till, we toasted to the end of being Famous In Oregon packers and the beginning of becoming Tanner The Planter packers and just like that, we are set up for success!

Thank you to Hunter, Maya, Darren, Roger, Lane, Madison, Laine, Anicka, Sylvia and Angie for making it happen today. Your positive attitudes really carried us today! A special thanks to Stacy (Hunters mom!) for the many trips she made in her truck!

We are so proud of our team. Thank you for being the BEST! 😍🙏🏻

Yesterday we realized what an impact our little corner of plant heaven had on our community. We had no idea how important our physical shop was to so many. 😭

We had folks coming in just for the nostalgia of it, telling us about a time they needed an escape and came to our shop to just feel better. We had groups gathering after we closed outside looking in the windows in disbelief. We saw y’all on the cameras.😭

We had several council members from surrounding cities coming in to support and to tell us how much they love what we’re doing in the plant world.

We had past employees coming in for one last time and even past employees parents of some of our student workers we’ve employed over the years.

And we had an endless line all day long of folks checking out helping us liquidate so we can recalibrate our systems and shipping operations Sunday morning (without having to move plants!) to resume shipping on Monday. We even had mayors from other cities calling us and offering advice and telling us what could still be done.

At one point we had so many cars everywhere and so many people around that the cops showed up!🤣 We are so grateful for the absolute downpour of love and affection. This whole experience has been so heavy on the brain but we feel so full in our hearts.

Thank you for showing up. Thank you for holding us up in a harder time and thank you for always being there for us.❤️

For a super positive person like me, it’s been hard to continue to talk about. I need something else to talk about!🤣 My plan for today is to dive in to our new operations and to make sure our staff knows we aren’t going anywhere. Once I’m done admiring the onslaught of new peduncles on my Hoyas I just found this morning, that is!🤩

Locals, nothing really changes for you except for the shop is no longer shoppable as we will need every inch of space for shipping. Local pickups aren’t changing, large plant orders are still happening as well as repots and Didi stays.🐈‍⬛

Onward to the next chapter of life after Famous In Oregon.❤️🫶🏻🪴📚

With the sudden news that we can no longer ship out of our Victorian property due to zoning, we have made the tough decision to close our store front to move all of our shipping operations in.

We are sad for the community but small business is tough and this is what needs to happen to keep 19 staff members employed and thousands of customers across the country receiving plants.

It’s been a great run, Prosper! We are so grateful for our local customers continued support. We will see y’all tonight at 6:30pm for our last live sale from the shop.💔

🥳So proud of my wife:

✨ This one is really special, y’all. ✨

Tonight, I’m sharing something I’m excited about, I was invited to be a guest on the biggest houseplant podcast out there…and it’s my first time being invited to speak on my own, not as “Mrs. Tanner The Planter,” but as me, Erika Margarita Mitchell.

If you’ve been around for a while, you probably know Tanner is the face of our little plant world online, he’s the pot slapper, the camera guy, the personality. 😅
But behind the scenes, I’m marketing, running the operations, building (and sometimes wrecking!) systems, keeping the wheels on, and helping shape what Famous In Oregon home of Tanner The Planter is every single day.

So being asked to come on a podcast solo, and especially THIS podcast, meant more than I can say.

And the best part? The host, Maria and I have met and even have had lunch in person, and that made this conversation so easy and fun. We covered a lot, but this clip is one of my favorite moments.

🎧 My episode drops tomorrow morning before you wake up! If you want to be ready, go download/subscribe to Maria Failla’s podcast now, Growing Joy with Maria, so it’s queued up when it goes live. You may have to copy and paste depending on the platform you’re on.🤩
