Ever wondered why your RV needs a GFCI outlet on an inverter? ⚡
🔌 What does a GFCI do?
It monitors current balance between hot and neutral wires. If it detects an imbalance as small as 4–6 mA — electricity leaking somewhere it shouldn't, like through a person — it cuts power in milliseconds, before you even feel the shock.
Why does this matter in an RV?
RVs operate in wet, outdoor environments (rain, campgrounds near water, damp decks). GFCI protection is essential safety.
📍 The technical twist:
In a home, neutral and ground are bonded together at the main panel.
In an RV, neutral and ground must stay unbonded inside the vehicle — because when you plug into campground shore power, the bond is already provided by the campground's system. If your RV had its own internal bond, you'd get double bonding → nuisance tripping of GFCIs.
✅ So, what are the benefits of choosing a GIANDEL inverter with GFCI outlets, and why does it work seamlessly with RV systems?
1. No internal neutral-ground bond – GIANDEL uses an open‑ground / floating‑neutral design. This matches exactly how a floating-neutral portable generator works. No double bonding, no false trips.
2. Built‑in UL Listed GFCI outlets (20A) – These provide certified ground‑fault protection. Even with a floating‑neutral system, the GFCI outlets themselves deliver shock protection — they are your first line of defense.
3. Designed specifically for mobile applications – GIANDEL's engineers explicitly advise against adding an external neutral‑ground bond. Why? Because the built‑in GFCI is all you need. Adding a bond would actually create a dangerous condition and fail HIPOT testing. The inverter ships ready for RVs, boats, vans — no modifications required.
4. GIANDEL inverters offer comprehensive protection – Undervoltage protection, overvoltage protection, overheat protection, overload protection, and short circuit protection.

💡 4 Tips for Choosing an Inverter! GIANDEL teaches you to buy wisely and avoid mistakes.
1️⃣ Check the Power
First, calculate the total wattage of your appliances (e.g., Fridge 200W + TV 150W + Rice Cooker 800W = 1150W).
✅ Choose an inverter that is >20% higher than the total (1150W × 1.2 = 1380W → Recommended 1500W or more).
❌ Too small = won't power your devices; too large = a waste of money.
⚡ Don't Forget Surge Power
Some appliances (like fridges, pumps, or motors) need 2-3x more power to start up.
Always check the surge wattage of your inverter to make sure it can handle the startup burst!
2️⃣ Choose the Waveform
🔹 Pure Sine Wave: Stable, just like grid power. Safe for TVs, fridges, microwaves, and fans. A bit more expensive.
🔹 Modified Sine Wave: Cheaper! But can be noisy, may cause fans to run slower or chargers to heat up.
👉 If you run multiple household appliances, go with Pure Sine Wave for peace of mind.
3️⃣ Safety First
✔ Must have protection against over-voltage, overload, over-heating, and short circuits.
✔ Look for an auto-start cooling fan and an aluminum alloy case for better heat dissipation.
✔ Check for safety certifications.
4️⃣ Extra Features
🔸 LED Display: Monitor voltage and power usage in real-time.
🔸 USB Fast Charging Ports: Super convenient for phones and tablets.
🔸 APP Remote Control: High-end models let you monitor your system from your phone—great for solar setups.
🔋 Remember: A good inverter = Reliable power + Longer-lasting appliances.

[Urgent Alert Code "LO"] Your Inverter is Sending an SOS! Battery Aging May Cause Voltage Drops. A Step-by-Step Guide to Troubleshoot!
Hello everyone! If your GIANDEL inverter displays an "LO" warning, accompanied by voltage drops or unexpected shutdowns, it’s usually the inverter telling you: Input voltage is too low! One of the most common reasons is the aging or depletion of the battery that powers it.
Don’t worry! You can perform a simple and safe preliminary check yourself. Please follow these steps:
Step 1: Safety First & Tools Needed
1. Safety First: Ensure all operations are performed in a well-ventilated, dry area. Wear insulated gloves if available.
2. Required Tool: You only need a digital multimeter (an inexpensive, readily available model will work).
Step 2: Measure the Battery Voltage (Source Check)
This is key to assessing the battery's health.
1. Disconnect: For safety and accurate readings, first disconnect the inverter's DC input cables from the battery terminals (remove the black negative cable first, then the red positive cable).
2. Set the Multimeter: Turn the multimeter dial to the DC Voltage (DCV) setting, and select the 20V or 200V range.
3. Perform the Measurement:
Place the multimeter's red probe on the battery's positive (+) terminal.
Place the black probe on the battery's negative (-) terminal.
4. Read & Judge:
For a 12V battery system: A fully charged battery should read around 12.6V - 12.8V. If the voltage is below 12.0V, the battery is severely discharged or aged.
For a 24V battery system: A fully charged battery should read around 25.2V - 25.6V. If the voltage is below 24.0V, there is a problem.
If the voltage is extremely low (e.g., below 10V or 20V), the battery is likely damaged or needs immediate charging.
Step 3: Measure the Inverter Input Voltage (Transmission Check)
This step checks for issues with the wiring and connections.
1. Reconnect the Inverter: Reconnect the battery cables to the inverter securely and correctly (connect positive first, then negative).
2. Turn on the Inverter: Switch on the inverter, leaving it in standby or under a light load.
3. Measure the Input Terminals:
Keep the multimeter on the DC Voltage (DCV) setting.
Carefully place the red probe on the inverter's DC input positive (+) terminal or cable end.
Carefully place the black probe on the negative (-) terminal or cable end.
4. Compare & Analyze:
The voltage read here should be very close to the battery voltage measured in Step 2 (typically within a 0.5V difference).
If the voltage here is significantly lower than the battery voltage (e.g., 1-2V lower), it indicates excessive voltage drop due to cables being too thin, too long, or loose/corroded/poor connections (terminals, fuses), preventing efficient power transfer.
Conclusion & Solutions
If the battery voltage is low: Your battery may be aged, have reduced capacity, or is insufficiently charged. Try fully charging the battery and test again. If the problem persists, replacing the battery is likely necessary.
If the inverter input voltage is normal, but "LO" appears even under light load: Other issues may exist. We recommend contacting our technical support.
If there is a significant cable voltage drop: Clean and tighten all DC terminals, and consider using thicker or shorter cables to connect the battery to the inverter.
Important Note: An aging battery not only causes inverter malfunctions but can also pose safety risks. Regularly checking your battery status is key to ensuring a reliable power system!
