Having the right opinions isn't the same as doing something.

Most people who witness harm aren't bad people. They just didn't know what to do next.

That's a skill problem. Skills are fixable.

For some young people, the question isn't whether a space is welcoming - it's whether it's survivable.

Physical safety matters. So does knowing you won't be mocked, dismissed, or made invisible.

Building environments that actually work for all young people takes more than a posted policy. 🏳️‍🌈

💙 Mental Health Month is a good reminder to reach out to the people around you.

You don't need the right words. A text, a question, showing up - that's enough.

Check in on someone this week.

📌 Welcome to Building Strong Futures.

We're a community initiative working to build safer, more connected communities in Princeton and East McKinney.

We run two programs:
BSF: Family Resilience serves families with school-age children in Princeton - workshops, resources, and community connections that strengthen families.

BSF: Young Adult Leaders serves adults ages 16-24 in Princeton and East McKinney - connecting people to economic opportunity and engaging young people as leaders in their communities.

We're also forming an Advisory Council for young adults who want to help shape this work from the inside. Interested? Reach out.

Not just cameras or lighting.

Safe spaces have people in them who know how to show up. Who notice when something's off. Who don't look away.

What's one place in your community where you actually feel that?

Your voice matters. TAASA is conducting anonymous community surveys to better understand how sexual violence impacts individuals, families, and communities across Texas. By sharing your perspective, you can help shape prevention efforts, survivor support services, and community education initiatives.

Every response helps create safer, more informed communities where survivors are supported and heard. Take a few moments to complete the survey and help make a difference.

💙 May is Mental Health Month.

For young men especially, asking for help can feel like the hardest thing. It isn't a weakness. It's what strong people do.

If someone in your life is struggling, check in. If you're the one struggling, say something.

📋 Before we build programs, we listen.

Last week, our team was at the health fair in Princeton asking the community real questions. What challenges are you facing? What does this community need? How long have you been here?

That's how stronger communities get built. One conversation at a time.

💼 Stable work creates options. Options create safety.

For young women especially, economic independence isn't just a career goal. It's a protective factor. When there's a paycheck, a pathway, and people in your corner — leaving unsafe situations becomes possible.
