Princeton Electric Speedboating touched down at the historic Lake X!

Earlier this March, PES was invited by Mercury Racing to go the historic Lake X and test our newest boat - Eagle 1. Eagle 1 has been in development for over 2.5 years, dating back to before Big Bird ever set the electric kilo world record. The team has put countless hours into getting Eagle 1 ready for testing during this time, especially since mid-January when the Spring Semester started. Lake X was the first time the boat went in the water with great success! During routine power testing, Eagle 1’s new powertrain had a continuous power output that peaked at 186 HP, 4 more HP than Big Bird ever made. And that was just with the training wheels 😎 After pushing the limits of the system throughout the week, the team saw power outputs that were approaching double to what Big Bird had ever made.

This is just the start of Eagle 1’s journey as the team works to get her ready to beat our OWN record for the fastest electric speedboat in the world!

PES would like to extend their gratitude and thanks to Mercury Racing for this one of a kind opportunity to race at Lake X. Thank you to Chris Jenks and David Dins for supporting our electric kilo record program. Getting to learn from you all and your fellow engineers and race team was truly a privilege and we look forward to implementing the many lessons we learned at Lake X to Eagle 1 as she gets ready for a record event later in 2026. It was an honor to work with Mercury team on this project and we could not value the partnership more.

Stay tuned for more updates about Eagle 1, the journey is just beginning! 🚤
