Join Me!!! What a great event with a great heart!

Sometimes.... The only thing we can do is hold a baby raccoon until they pass. It's the hard truth ALL the rehabbers deal with.
We get a baby in from good people, but it's too late. The baby's organs have been pushed too far and the death process has started. This baby came in, barely breathing, dehydrated, letting out cries for her mommy. There was no mommy to be found. So we give them warmth in an incubator, subcutaneous fluids, and pray. I knew this little poppet wasn't going to make it. So I cuddled and cooed and held her l, letting her know she was not alone, she would be with the rest of her family soon. Her life mattered to me. This is what goes on with all of the rehabbers who take care of wildlife just because they care. There is no pay, there are no grants, we all try to balance our jobs, our families, our lives, our bank accounts, to help animals like Trixie (she needed a name even if she was here for just a moment)
So tonight I cry a little bit... My heart hurts a little bit... But what we rehabbers do is huge and I'm proud to do my best even if it's just a little bit.

Here's our pack of misfits: Every one of them rescued and most have behavioral or health (geriatric) issues. What a happy lucky group. Life is Grand at 2nd Hand!

It's a barn sale to raise money for the rescue and sell saddles that are awesome and need a home. Lol

So many baby squirrels came in this spring! They are growing so big ! Soon it will be freedom!!!!

It's fawn season!

Just this morning I had fledgling robins learning to fly in my yard
