I went into the studio back in May with Wes at 115 Recording in Oklahoma to start recording follow up to my album Two Hearts.

Recording and releasing an album is a lot of work, but I wanted to release some new songs that I had written. He threw out the idea that we do something simple, and really capture the essence of the songs.

For those of you who have seen me live, you know I implement a looper in my playing to allow myself to play leads and heads over my songs. The process of recording this EP forced to think inside the box and consolidate my ideas in to playing melodically within chords. I’m a big fan of Tony Rice and he’s a master of that style of playing.

It was a big change in my approach, but it inspired a new way of playing for me that I’m excited to keep refining.

What you hear is vocals and guitar. One take. It’s raw, and represents what we recorded that day.

I hope you enjoy the performance and collection of songs we picked. Thanks for pushing me out of my comfort zone on this one.
