** Weather update: We got some rain today but the ground is holding up well. We are going to open as scheduled, but there's a chance of rain. Bring your mud boots! **
Update: Some reservation spot have opened up. Come by if you are close. But keep an eye on the weather because there is a chance we will not be able to open if we get too much rain today. Check back here before heading over this evening. **
We will open for pick-your-own blackberries and blueberries on Monday, June 15 at 6 pm by appointment.
We're in the last week of our season. The berries are starting to slow down as the majority of the orchard has either been picked out or is suffering from the heat. There are more blackberries than blueberries. There still are good berries to pick, but it will require more work than the easy picking of the past few weeks.
We are requiring reservations in order to match the number of visitors with the amount of ripe fruit that we have.
Note that there is rain in the forecast for Monday, so check back with this post or our website in case there are late-breaking weather-related announcements.
Berries are $8 a pound. We accept cash, credit cards and Venmo. We provide picking buckets. No smoking, no pets. We are located at 40269 Abby James Rd in Prairieville, LA.
We took a walk through the orchard this Friday evening, June 12, and I'm sad to report that sections of the blackberries are succumbing to blight. The early season rain and recent heat are tough on the blackberry canes. There's enough good berries to open for picking but I'll ask our morning pickers to be discriminating and only pick the best of the berries. Ponca blackberries are taking it particularly rough, but Osage, Ouachita, Kiowa and Caddo are doing better.
Meanwhile, we have blueberries to pick but it's not the easy picking it was before.
We can still pick berries and have a good time, but just want to note that picking will require a little more work than it did just a week ago.

**Update. We are closing at 10 am. **
We will open for pick-your-own blackberries and blueberries on Saturday morning, June 13, from 8 am to 10:30 am.
Blackberries are still plentiful and ripening quickly, but blueberries are starting to trail off as we approach the last picking sessions of the 2026 season. There will be blueberries to pick but it won't be the easy picking we had over the past few weeks.
Our last picking day over the past two years has been June 19, so the season is beginning to wind down. Get here in the next few sessions or you might have to wait until next year.
Reservations will not be required for this session.

**Update: No reservations required for Monday picking. We've started to dry out here and the parking area looks good so far. We'll see you then! **
Thanks to everyone who braved the spotty weather on Saturday. Despite the rain chasing the pickers out of the field and causing us to close early, you still pretty much picked the field clean! We'll let the fruit ripen for a day (and wait out some of the rain).
We'll open next for pick-your-own blackberries and blueberries on Monday, June 8 at 6 pm. We'll stop letting people in at 7 pm and close the field at 7:30 pm.
We may require reservations for this pick, due to the possibility that the rain will soften up our parking area. If we do, we'll open up reservations 24 hours in advance.

** We are going to close for the rest of the day due to rain. **
The weather so far this Saturday morning is partly cloudy and dry, so all systems are go for our Saturday morning pick (8am - 11 am). We have lots of ripe blackberries and blueberries in the orchard so it's going to be a good day to pick.
We surprisingly haven't had much rain this week so the ground is firm and not muddy.
Even if it does rain this morning it may be scattered and quick. Bring a rain jacket just in case. We hope to see you soon.

We have had great crowds but the orchard is out-performing and cranking out ripe blackberries and blueberries like a factory. We're going to open an extra day on Friday morning, June 5 from 7:30 am to 10:30 am to give pickers an extra chance to visit.
That means we'll be open both on Friday morning (7:30 am) and Saturday morning, June 6 (8 am - 11 am).
At this point no reservations required. But that could change if we get a lot of rain, so check back for updates.
