Your nervous system runs everything.
Movement, strength, recovery, even how you handle stress.
So what happens when you stop looking at chiropractic care as “pain relief"
and start seeing it as nervous system optimization?
The research is actually pretty clear:
Adjustments don’t just change joints.
They change how your brain perceives and controls your body.
We’re talking about:
• Improved brain activity + neuroplasticity
• Stronger muscle output (without more training)
• Better body awareness + coordination
• Faster reaction times
• Increased heart rate variability (hello recovery mode)
• More efficient brain-to-muscle communication
This is why some people feel clearer, stronger, and more regulated—not just “looser”after an adjustment.
Because when your brain and body communicate better
everything you do becomes more efficient.
Not magic. Not placebo.
Just a better-functioning nervous system.
If your body feels stuck, or like it’s working harder than it should
it might not be a muscle problem.
It might be a communication problem.
Are you overstimulated?
Always tired?
Having food cravings?
Ruminating over the past?
Feeling tense?
Have you considered you may be stuck in fight or flight mode?
Although most of us aren't going to be in or follow through with an actual physical fight the feeling of daily stressors can make us feel like we are in the middle of one. Stress doesn't just effect us in the moment.
The effect it has on our nervous system can last hours after a stressful event.
This week Dr. Thomas walks us through how it can effect you and a few easy tips on how to calm your nervous system down quickly.
Our body is designed to handle stress. The question is are you helping it calm down after stress or are you allowing your body to stay in that stressed out state?
Let us know in the comments what your favorite technique is to calm down after a stressful moment.
Listen in as Tom and Judy share their journey with chiropractic and after decades of pain and even a limp Tom has seen what he calls a miracle with these issues going away.
We love our patients and the "miracles" (Tom's words not ours) that we get to see with our community everyday.

How much weighted pressure does your head put on your neck?
Well that depends on the position. For every inch your head moves forward from neutral, the pressure on your neck increases by roughly 10 pounds. Even a 15 degree tilt can cause 27 pounds of weight your neck has to try to support. So when you assume the text neck slumped doom scroll position your neck has to support about 60 pounds of pressure. To put this into perspective that's roughly the weight of an 8 year old child. That's a lot of weight for 2 arms to carry not alone your neck.
So while looking down at your phone may seem harmless this added pressure can contribute to muscle strain, neck and nerve pain, headaches, degeneration of the dics, and even long term postural issues that effect other systems in your body.
Fortunately, a simple solution to a daily habit like bringing your devices up to eye level instead of tilting your head down can make a huge difference to how your body functions and feels. That small adjustement can can protect your spine and reduce the risk of chronic discomfort.

You don’t need a perfect plan when something hurts.
You just need a better first response.
Most people go straight to:
– stretching it
– pushing through it
– or ignoring it
But your body is usually asking for something simpler first.
Slow down
Change your state
Support your system
Then decide what to do next.
That’s how you stop small things from becoming bigger problems.

Most people think pain just happens.
You tweak something.
You sleep wrong.
It “comes out of nowhere.”
But your body doesn’t work like that.
Pain is usually the first time you notice something…
not the first time something is wrong.
Before pain, there are almost always signs:
– tightness
– feeling off
– slower recovery
– small imbalances
The problem is, most of us are used to pushing through those.
Until we can’t.
That’s when pain shows up, and it feels sudden.
But it’s not.
If this sounds familiar, don’t ignore it.
Start paying attention earlier.
It changes everything.
Send this to someone who always says
“I think I just slept wrong”
Pain is not the first signal your body sends.
It's ususaly the last warning sign.
Pain shows up because your body has been adapting for a long time.
It is a sign your body can't adapt anymore.
You don't suddenly get pain.
You run out of options.
Tomrrow we will breakdown what your body is doing before pain shows up.
