Adaptive Sports Connection (TAASC is Adaptive Sports Connection) empowers children, adults, and veterans with disabilities through sports and wellness programs. Founded in 1992 in Columbus, Ohio, Adaptive Sports Connection helps those with disabilities and their families stay active. We are an active chapter member of Move United, a national organization focused on improving the lives of wounded w

arriors, youth, and adults with disabilities by providing sports and recreation opportunities. Adaptive Sports began as a means to rehabilitate veterans from World War II, Korea, and Vietnam War. Today, Move United serves both civilians and the latest military who have sustained permanent physically disabling injuries while in Iraq and across the globe. We are a recognized as a regional leader for our strong program and coalition with other like-minded organizations dedicated to making a difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities and their families. Who We Serve

Over the years, we have been able to impact the lives of thousands of individuals living with disabilities due to: amputations, combat-injuries, post-traumatic stress syndrome, spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, autism, other neuromuscular/orthopedic conditions, downs syndrome, brain injuries, visual impairments, and more. In addition, we have provided training and leadership opportunities to participants and volunteers throughout the community. What We Do

We currently offer sports programs including: downhill skiing, water skiing, wakeboarding, kayaking, cycling, rock climbing, archery, fishing, paddle boarding, and sailing. As our program expands, we hope to offer even more sports to meet the growing needs in our community. We operate our winter sports programs at Snow Trails Ski Resort in Mansfield, Ohio, and Mad River Mountain Ski Resort in Valley Hi, Ohio. We also provide participants opportunities to ski in other locations and competitions, such as

The majority of our summer sports take place at our headquarters along the Scioto River in Powell, Ohio. Through a partnership with the City of Columbus we have access to nearly 22 acres of beautiful land along the river for water sports and fishing. Our cycling program we take on the road accommodating individuals, schools, and organizations. Adaptive Sports Connection teaches skills to the individual with a disability and to their family, friends, or other support people so they can enjoy sports together. Adaptive Sports Connection relies heavily on our volunteers - many of whom have disabilities themselves. We are committed to providing quality training by having certified volunteer instructors including numerous ski instructors, kayaking instructors, and water ski instructors.

ASC will be joining Nationwide Children's Hospital Adaptive Sports Medicine Program and The Ohio State University Adaptive Sports Institute at Adaptive Sports Medicine Day on Friday August 14th!

This event brings together athletes, families, health care professionals and community organizations to promote access, participation, and excellence in adaptive sports. This free community event features a keynote speaker, multidisciplinary panel, and community engagement fair where attendees can connect with local programs, resources, and opportunities to get involved.

We had a fantastic time at our second Operation Fairway event today!

Veterans from the Columbus area, including those with visual impairments, spent the day at Columbus Country Club preparing for the National Disabled Veterans Golf Clinic in Iowa this September.

Today’s event brought together 36 veteran golfers supported by volunteers from Victoria’s Secret & Co. for a day focused on camaraderie, competition, and the joy of accessible golf.

Thank you to our veterans for your service, and to all of our partners and volunteers who helped make today’s event such a success!

ASC is excited to welcome back Zack Holycross of 10th Planet Columbus to Boundless Freedom Veterans Adventure Weekend on August 7 and 8! Mindfulness and physical activity are important for overall health and well-being. Coach Zack will be leading jiu-jitsu sessions during this two-day event, which is free of charge for veterans and their families.

Yoga is back at Boundless Freedom Weekend 🧘‍♀️

We're excited to welcome Kara Lough back to Boundless Freedom Weekend 2026! Kara will lead veterans and their families through a restorative yoga and meditation session at our new Adventure and Wellness Lodge on Saturday, August 8.

With 18 years of experience, Kara offers an inclusive approach that welcomes all bodies and experience levels. Her session combines mindful movement, breathing techniques, and meditation to help participants relax, recharge, and reconnect.

As part of Boundless Freedom Weekend on August 7–8, veterans and their families will come together for a weekend of movement, nature, and community. All meals, lodging, and activities are provided at no cost.
