To all of you in the path of the storm... Stay Safe! A couple tips to prepare your pets for emergencies...
1) Make sure they are tagged, micro-chipped, or tattooed! If you use microchips, update your info online to make it easier to return pets home.
2) Take a picture of you with your pets! this shows ownership if you ever have to claim them in a temporary shelter (plus, it's awesome to have pictures WITH you pets!)
3) Have 2 weeks worth of pet food/water on hand.
4) Have a few months of maintenance medications on hand for your pets. Remember, in a natural disaster, any medications that can be used for humans will be pulled from vet clinics leaving low to no supplies for our pets!
5) Have extra collars and leashes on hand... in case you need to replace one that breaks, or you come across another pet you can help!
6) Once this is all over and we are all back safely home, consider taking a pet first aid class or getting retrained so that you are prepared!
Now, go be safe and weather the storm!
Cool weather is approaching! Are you spending more time outside with your pets? Make sure they are microchipped, tattooed, and/or wearing tags so it is easier to get them home on case they get lost!
Now is also a great time to get trained in pet first aid! We have a class coming up in Marietta from 9-5 on Saturday, October 21st.
