Summer may be a little quieter around the ranch, but there’s still plenty of smiles, curious noses, and peaceful moments to share. 💛

Here are a few favorites from recent tours, birthday celebrations, and alpaca yoga. Thank you to everyone who has spent part of their summer with us—we love sharing this little corner of the world with you.

We can’t wait to welcome more of you this fall. 🦙🌿

A little update on Phenix. 💛

If you visit the ranch over the next several months, you may notice one sweet face missing from the pasture.

This week we’ve spent time at Auburn University’s Large Animal Hospital after Phenix had been struggling to walk comfortably. Her back legs had begun locking up, and after a thorough evaluation, the team diagnosed a rare issue with both of her knees that causes her kneecaps to slip out of place.

Because this condition is uncommon in alpacas, the surgeons are consulting with specialists across multiple disciplines to give her the very best plan possible. She’ll undergo surgery one leg at a time, followed by a long recovery.

Recovery will take time, but she’s exactly where she needs to be, surrounded by people who love her.

Around here, our animals have never been “just livestock.” They’re family. When one of them needs us, we simply show up for them.

Thank you for keeping our little sweet pea in your thoughts as she begins her journey back to the pasture. We’ll be sure to share updates along the way.

🐺✨🏔️

Sometimes the most productive thing you can do… is pause.

After nearly five years of pouring our hearts into Lost Mountain Alpaca Ranch, this was our first real vacation together. No projects. No rushing. No endless to-do lists. Just space to breathe.

We chased sunrises and sunsets, wandered mountain trails, soaked our feet in cold mountain rivers, and let nature slow our pace. We stood among the incredible red rocks, feeling the energy of the music, the beauty of the setting, and the joy of thousands of people coming together to share an unforgettable evening.

We spent time with rescued wolves, deepened our appreciation for conservation, and came home with an even greater respect for the incredible instincts of animals—from wild wolves to our own guardian dog, Bodhi.

Along the way we were reminded that wonder is everywhere: baby fawns nursing beside the trail, soaring mountain views, quiet forests, and long conversations that only seem to happen when you finally stop hurrying.

Most of all, we came home grateful. Grateful for the incredible farm sitters who loved and cared for our animals as if they were their own, which made this trip possible. And grateful that stepping away for a few days didn’t pull us away from our purpose. It brought us back to it with fresh eyes and full hearts.

Now it’s time to get back to the farm… and we couldn’t be happier. 🩵

🤎🎂✨

The birthday celebrations continue at Lost Mountain Alpaca Ranch.

This week we’re celebrating Al (June 25), Phenix (June 26), and Harry (June 28).

Three unique personalities. Three special souls. Three reasons to be grateful they’re part of our herd.

Help us wish them a happy birthday. 🤎🦙

🤎🎂✨

Two birthdays. Twice the joy.

Today we celebrate Apollo, and tomorrow we celebrate Kismet—two very different personalities who have each brought something special to our herd.

Apollo wins hearts with his teddy bear looks and gentle spirit, while Kismet has quickly become one of the most striking faces on the farm with her beautiful markings and quiet charm.

Happy Birthday to two of our favorites. We’re lucky to share our days with you. 🤎
