Path To Rhythm
Path To Rhythm provides group drumming programs for summer camps, schools, and organizations at conferences and live events
Words of truth and inspiration from Yahya.
Drumming is the vehicle. The work is creating connection and helping people experience belonging and a sense of something greater than the individual.

Returning to Woodland School for our third consecutive year reminded me of something important.
When students recognize the rhythm, the structure, and the experience, they enter the room differently. They are happy to see us!
There’s more trust and that leads to more willingness to participate.
Over time, rhythm becomes more than an activity, it becomes part of the culture of the school. I am grateful to continue this partnership with Woodland School alongside Yahya 🎶👊🏼

💡I don’t force engagement. I try to create moments where the students feel successful. After that, participation follows. 🙌🏼

🎵Sometimes repetition gets misunderstood.
When students can feel progress, repetition becomes momentum. I am passionate about keeping participants engaged, and when participants experience success, they want to keep participating. 🙌🏼

I’ve been doing this work for a long time.
As the years go on, I gain deeper insight.
Lately, I’ve been experiencing more clarity — and a desire to share it. 🙌🏼

A Day of Drum & Dance at Lincoln Elementary
Watching students fully engage, support each other, and enjoy the process is always powerful.
One student said it best:“I wish we could do this every day.”
Rhythm creates connection, presence, and belonging.

Familiar rhythm creates confidence.
Confidence creates participation.
I see this in every session.
When students recognize a pattern, they begin to trust themselves — and that’s when they fully engage.

Before every session, I take a moment to connect with the teachers.
I share what we’re about to do and ask them to support us. I go over all of the transitions and then ask them if there is anything that I should know that will help me to work with their students.
When teachers join the experience, something shifts.
Students see their teachers listening, learning, and playing with them.
That shared experience helps create an environment where connection and belonging can grow.
This part of the process matters just as much as what happens with the drums.
We honor, respect, and collaborate with teachers🙌🏼
