1 Corinthians 1:30 "But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus..."

We did nothing to earn our salvation.

When Christians gather in heaven's equivalent of the "water cooler break," if ever asked how we got to heaven, we'll all have the same answer:

"By God's grace. I did nothing to get here. God did it all." You were saved not because you did anything right but because God had mercy on your soul.

"He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy..." Titus 3:5

So, there will be no boasting in heaven. And while we're on earth, we can practice "not" boasting:

"Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord." 1 Corinthians 1:31

"Those who make them [idols] will become like them,
Everyone who trusts in them." Psalm 115:8

We become like what we worship.

God says of man-made idols:

"They have mouths, but they cannot speak;
They have eyes, but they cannot see;
They have ears, but they cannot hear..." Psalm 115:5-6a

Just as idols are dead things, so anything that controls us, other than Jesus Christ, will rob us of true life. Therefore, God warns us to choose carefully what we will worship because our spiritual life depends on it.

"But if your heart turns away and you . . . are drawn away and worship other gods and serve them, I declare to you today that you shall surely perish." Deuteronomy 30:17-18a

The good news is that when we choose to worship Jesus Christ, we become like Him.

"But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory..." 2 Corinthians 3:18

Make sure there is only one God in your life. That God is Jesus Christ!

1 Corinthians 9:24 "...those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize . . . run in such way that you may win."

The Bible teaches that you should "run" for Christ.

A Christ-centered life is compared to an athlete who competes for a prize—much like trying to win a gold medal in today's Olympics. You must:

Be prepared.

"...but I discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified."
1 Corinthians 9:27

Have self-control.

"Everyone who competes in the games exercises self-control in all things. They then do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable." 1 Corinthians 9:25

Lay aside obvious sin.

"Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us..." Hebrews 12:1

Have endurance.

See quotation above.

Suffer hardship and hostility.

"Suffer hardship with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus."
2 Timothy 2:3

"For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart." Hebrews 12:3

Play according to God's rules.

"Also if anyone competes as an athlete, he does not win the prize unless he competes according to the rules." 2 Timothy 2:5

Be diligent to the end.

"And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence so as to realize the full assurance of hope until the end..."
Hebrews 6:11.

Keep your eyes on Jesus and eternity.

"fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God." Hebrews 12:2

More importantly, we have to allow the Holy Spirit to live through us, as our human efforts are in vain.

"I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me..." Galatians 2:20

And when we've finished the race, we have the possibility of hearing these eternally wonderful words:

"...well done, good and faithful slave..." Matthew 25:21

God tells us to pray for our leaders. He does not mention specifically whether to pray for them if they were elected legitimately or selected by the Deep State Cabal. He just tells us to pray.

"...I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity." 1 Timothy 2:1-2

Praying for your national and local leaders to help you have a tranquil and quiet life today is biblical. Yes, even for those we know do evil like Joe Biden and Harris.

Paul calls us to pray for "all men, " specifically our leaders. As difficult as it may be to pray for those with whom we disagree, God still wants us to pray for them. All these prayers move us toward godliness and dignity in a tranquil and quiet life.

We can pray for their decisions to be within God's will, for their salvation if we perceive that they are not true believers, for their protection, and, most importantly, for them to have wisdom in all their decisions.

"The king's heart is like channels of water in the hand of the LORD; He turns it wherever He wishes." Proverbs 21:1

Isaiah 33:6 "And He will be the stability of your times..."

There is only one Anchor that truly holds in rough seas.

In a world marked by instability and change, Christians should know that they are completely secure in Christ, referred to as our "Anchor" in Hebrews 6:19.

This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and one which enters within the veil God is not only unmovable, He is also unchangeable (Hebrews 6:17).

In the same way, God, desiring even more to show to the heirs of the promise the unchangeableness of His purpose, interposed with an oath No plan of His can be thwarted (Psalm 33:11).

The counsel of the LORD stands forever, the plans of His heart from generation to generation.

So when we encounter turbulence in this life, our recourse is to cling to Him and wait patiently and expectantly as we watch His plan unfold.

"Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change and though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea." Psalm 46:2

"Cease striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth." Psalm 46:10

"Cease striving" literally means to let go and relax. What a wonderful invitation from the God who is in control of all things!

"Do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world." 1 John 4:1

Just because you heard it on TV or the radio, read it in print, or saw it on social media doesn't mean it's true.

There are many false teachers in the world—often quoting Scripture and sounding like Godly men (or women). God warns us to be careful not to believe everything we hear. Here are several verses warning us:

"See to it that no ones takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception..." Colossians 2:8

"...deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ." 2 Corinthians 11:13

"...Satan disguises himself as an angel of light."
2 Corinthians 11:14

"...impostors will proceed from bad to worse, deceiving..."
2 Timothy 3:13

"For certain persons have crept in unnoticed, those who were long beforehand marked out for this condemnation..." Jude 4

When I think of fake news and liars CNN, MSNBC, and yes at times FOX News come to mind...

EVERYTHING we are taught should be tested against Scripture.
. . they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so. —Acts 17:11 . . examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good —1 Thessalonians 5:21
