Due to a change in schedule, Line Dancing is not happening tonight... and we're gradually shifting away from that over the next few weeks.

I know a lot of us in this community are celebrating Ash Wednesday -- it is a beautiful night. If you are not though... please feel free to join us for a quieter, more intimate dance tonight :)

West Coast with Mahala, line dance at 6:30pm is West Coast Passion (To California by JRAFFE), intermediate and beginner country swing with Connor and Leah at 7:30pm, and social starting at 8:30pm as usual.

Do to a few issues that came up today... line dancing will not be happening at 6:30pm :( Our apologies. And we're excited to take that back up again next week with West Coast Passion!

Everything else (social dancing, country swing and west coast swing lessons) is on just as ever! Come out and dance tonight :)

1st Half of February Classes before Swing Factor Dance Now:

6:15pm: Reruns of January Line Dances (Miles on It, Groovy Love, Rampampam)
6:30pm: Making harder line dances accessible to up and coming line dancers + technique. This and next week is The Vibe!
7:30pm: Intermediate Country swing with technique focus this month.

(As a reminder... 6:30pm in the other room is Beginner WCS with Mahala, followed by her Intermediate WCS series).

Continuing dancing through January at Dance Now this Wednesday. Things of note:

The Line Dance class at 6:30pm will start with Miles on It, focusing on some very basic styling in the upper body. Then we'll continue to work on Rampampam, with the goal of gradually speeding it up to tempo today.

Intermediate CS is still doing its January rotation of cool moves. This week will be on rotations and send outs from the cuddle position and executing and supporting "around the world" styling for the follows.

WCS Drop-in Beginner classes continue throughout January from 6:30pm to 7:30pm. The 7:30pm class will continue to choreo they've been working on.

Moving forward with our line dances for the... near future. Want to have a short list of dances that are the most likely to be played (guarantee at least 2 beginner, 2 intermediate, 1-2 advanced each night).

The goal is that these are line dances that are fun, played a lot around the US right now, will improve your partner and solo dancing if you learn and dance them AND are fun to country swing and/or WCS to them if you don't want to line dance.

We'll gradually rotate dances in and out as we go... look for a soon announcement on which weeks these will be taught (Wednesdays at 6:30pm starting on the 15th... included in your regular Swing Factor price)

Teaching rides tonight with a new series of drills to focus on different aspects of the ride for anyone interested.

Announcements for line dancing and WCS in 2025 will go out this week.

For country swing, this week we are doing loaded outside turns and spiral turns. Next week, we will be doing rides -- with a focus on having them feel effortless.

We're starting up group chats for Swingcouver / Country 'Couver and for the Stompeder's Convention. If you want to get added to the Swingcouver chat, please respond with a thumbs up. If you want to get added to the Stompeder's Convention chat, please respond with a heart.

These are multiple day dance conventions coming up in the next two months (both in Portland). We'll coordinate roommates, rides, and help each other ask questions before hand, and then keep in touch as the conventions happen. More information for the conventions can be found here:
