Shady Pines Radio is looking for a few new DJ’s! We’re a volunteer run nonprofit online community radio station here in Portland. We have an awesome mobile app for iOS/Android/macOS, and we can be played on any smart device.

We are looking for a few new DJ’s who are interested in hosting weekly live radio shows from home. We have nearly 100 DJ’s on the team right now, mostly local to the Portland area, doing all kinds of shows. SPR is home to a wide variety of musical taste, with an eye toward more obscure and non-mainstream selections.

We’re specifically looking to add some eclectic world jazz, as well as more Americana/jazz/blues music. There’s also some room for some punk/hip hop/rock/indie/soul/funk and more!

Bonus points if you want to spotlight independent Portland and PNW music. If you want to do a show primarily focusing on local music, we’d especially love to talk to you. Interviews and live performances are great too.

For the past 2 years our main focus in life has been Shady Pines Radio. Brian and Callie have been building it, training DJ's, throwing live events, developing the app, fundraising, building the website, making zines, designing merch, getting the word out, and more. It's been a labor of love in the truest sense. All that work, along with the support of our friends, has resulted in Shady Pines Radio being NOMINATED for BEST RADIO STATION in Willamette Week's Best of Portland 2022 Reader's Poll. We have some sad news…. We recently learned is closing down permanently this week. This marks the end of our monthly Cruzin’ in the Pines live showcase & broadcast, and we have to cancel the planned May 14 show. 😞 Shady Pines Media has grown so much with Cruzroom Annex over the past few years. We’ve hosted countless events there, and they’ve always been huge supporters of what we’re doing, offering us their wonderful space to showcase local talent. Our biweekly Cruzroom Open Mic was thriving for 2 whole years before the pandemic shutdown in March 2020. As soon as things started opening up again last summer, they invited to host a new monthly event there, Cruzin’ in the Pines, which has been an absolute blast. We’re really sad to say goodbye.

Tomorrow’s their last day before they shut their doors forever. We’ll be there enjoying the final and enjoying one last hoorah in this very special place. Feel free to join us if you‘d like to raise a glass to the Cruzroom. Wishing all the best to the Cruzroom team on their next adventures. Thank you for your years of support, helping Shady Pines thrive over the past few years, and providing such a great space for local creative folks. ❤️
