I’m getting back in the studio again following a long break and big life changes. We dropped off our daughter at college last week so we are officially bird launchers 🪹 I’ve been procrastinating but with the Salem Art Fair Salem Art Association just a couple weeks away the only way I’ll get my sea legs is to get in the studio and dig in, work through the fuglies and get creating. Here we go!

I’m often asked with abstract art how I know when a painting is finished. I used to answer with explaining a combination of balance, variety of shapes, values and color cohesiveness - or something along those lines. Then last fall at a festival I just said “When I want to hang it on my own wall.” The collector smiled and pointed at the piece he’d been looking at and said, “I like that answer. I want to hang this one on my wall.” 🔴
