I’m still undecided about 🦋 although I did snag an account that’s more likely to be used for yoga therapy than anything else.
I’ve already been moving content to Mastodon. Decentralized social media not focused on harvesting data and training AI feels like a better fit for me. You can find me at:
https://toot.cat/
I have also set up an account for my art on Mastodon.Art, decentralized social media that’s focused on real art generated by people not AI, is much more appealing to me at this time. You can find me at: https://mastodon.art/
Social media has often felt like I’m swimming upstream. I was actually a very early Twitter user. I worked in tech at the time and it was the platform a lot of tech people were using. I felt like all the yoga and art people came here and it took me a long time to join.
I feel like I only am just getting the hang of this platform when it feels time to look elsewhere. I have felt frustrated at the way my data is harvested for a long time.
It is also awful watching companies like X, Meta, and Substack actively fund the people working to take away the rights of q***r people. They support the spread of dangerous disinformation, along with hatred, that’s undermining public health and democracy.

Are you worried about falling or worry about a parent, partner, or friend who has had recent falls? It seems rather unfair, but increased worry about falls actually increases our fall risk! Thankfully you can reduce that risk by growing mindfulness, adding simple movement practices, and making safer choices in your home & community.
This Wednesday, November 6, is the beginning of my online, 5-week fall prevention program, *Mindful Fall Prevention. Sessions are 90 minutes from 1-2:30pm, Pacific time. I offer these through the Lifelong Learning program of Portland Parks and Recreation. This low-cost workshop is open to both Portland, Oregon, residents ($10) and non-residents ($14).

Are you or someone you care about worried about falling?
Fall prevention for older adults is vitally important because we’re more likely to be injured in a fall when we’re older. There are many simple changes people can make to reduce the risk of a fall.
I offer a 5-week course called Build Better Balance that explores prevention from several different approaches. Each week I introduce new movement and mindfulness practices and we cover a safety topic. Since it’s online people can sign up from anywhere! Sessions are recorded in case you can’t make all 5 sessions.
Cost for the full program is $10 for residents in the Portland metro area, only $14 for nonresidents! We meet for 90 minutes with a short break. Classes start at 1pm Pacific time.
Sign up today through Portland Parks & Recreation’s Lifelong Learning program to join one of the two summer sessions:

Happy Resiliency Day!
Was your Mother was abusive, neglectful, or didn't nurture your growth?
can trigger anger and grief for folks who survived our mothers.
I like to gently celebrate my own resilience and successfully raising myself to be a compassionate person.

It is wonderful to see options like this becoming a reality!
