Maine's housing challenges are too big for any one organization to solve alone. Expanding housing opportunities requires collaboration between public programs, community partners, local leaders, developers, and financial institutions working toward the same goal.

In her latest op-ed for the Portland Press Herald, Laura Johnson, of Bangor Savings Bank, a Build Homes, Build Community partner, highlights why preserving and creating housing depends on strong partnerships and shared commitment.

Today, leaders from the Build Homes Build Community coalition joined partners and lawmakers to highlight real solutions to Maine’s housing crisis.

The coalition is focused on a practical, bipartisan agenda that fits into three simple buckets:
1. Innovate.
2. Streamline.
3. Fund.

We need all three working together to build more homes, faster, in more places, at more price points. More housing means stronger communities, a stronger workforce, and a stronger Maine.
