We’ve missed you all - so we’re starting a new business! Come find us this spring!

So strange to say that Ohno Cafe is now closed permanently. Thank you for 20 great years! We were overwhelmed by your outpouring in our final days from the handmade flag to the mimosas, cards, flowers, notes and stories of what Ohno has meant to you and your families. Tears were flowing more than a couple of times.

We had planned to announce this week that after a break we would be transitioning to Ohno’s new owners. However, just in the past week we were blindsided to learn that those buyers were not going to be given a lease and the rent was going to be almost doubled — making it unaffordable for the likes of Ohno. We want you to know that, yes, Ohno did matter to many and people did want to keep it going. Our employees had been promised jobs in what seemed like a ‘done deal’ in September. A huge thank you to them for staying with us until the very end.

What we will take away from these years is not the bad ending, but that Ohno customers are really the best and we have loved being part of your lives. People met here and fell in love, exchanged wedding vows, leaned on us while their loved ones were in the hospital, shared their pets with us and grew up before our eyes. Thank you for sharing your lives with us these past 20 years — we will miss you all.

The gang’s all here and ready to make you one last sandwich! Just a heads up that we will run out of things today, so if there’s something in particular you’ve got a hankering for, get here early.

And thank you to the thoughtful people who made us this flag for our last day!
