Dan McCain was an outlier. Incredibly special in so many ways. Superior range in many intellectual domains, a physical specimen in which he trained hard to improve and maintain, and a charming and endearing personality that made it a fun experience once you finally got on the water with him.
Some of the runs I did with Dan; Icicle Creek, Little White, Carbon River, Upper Upper Cispus. Stuff I might not have done if he hadn’t called.
Godspeed Dan. You certainly left a legacy.

Every time we get in a boat Noah is with us. Subconsciously I process how the boat is rigged, why the boat is designed that way, paddler placement, equipment, and the mission of the day. Noah also reminds me that rafting is fun, and we must experience humility regardless of the outcome. His voice is always there, unique, witty, and wise. Noah helped create us and continues to sustain us. Thanks for everything Noah Hague, your spirit will last as long as the rivers run.
