The Oregon Literary Fellowships were created to support Oregon writers and publishers at all stages of their careers.

We interviewed each of the 2026 Fellows to learn more about what their creative practice looks like, who inspires their writing, and what winning a fellowship means to them.

We are excited to welcome National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature Mac Barnett back to Portland on August 6 as part of the Library of Congress Consider the Picture Book Initiative!

Mac will discuss the unconventional techniques used to create classic picture books and showcase the remarkable ways they connect to art forms such as poetry, song, visual art, and even theater and dance.

He will be joined in conversation by two of Oregon’s greatest writers, Colin Meloy, author of the widely popular WILDWOOD series, and Oregon’s former poet laureate, Anis Mojgani.

Literary Arts is seeking two Portland Book Festival Events Interns! Portland Book Festival brings writers and readers of all ages together to celebrate a shared passion for books.

This position will report to and work closely with the Public Programs team to prepare for the 2026 festival taking place this November.
