Last night, The Free Press's Promise Scholars (Community Editor Caydince Bumpus, News Editor Makayla Morello, and co-Editor-in-Chief Julz Levesque) attended the Promise Grad and Gratitude Gala!

This is an annual event to acknowledge and celebrate the hardworking graduating seniors, and to present awards.

Caydince is graduating with her degree in Criminology, and Julz is graduating with her degree in Media Studies.

Additionally, Julz was awarded with the Resiliency in Action Award for her grit and determination in overcoming obstacles to graduation.

Makayla received the Emerging Student Leader award for demonstrating positive and influential leadership within the university community.

Congratulations to our Promise Scholar ladies!! 🎉

Some of our Free Press staff spent the weekend in Portsmouth, NH at the 2026 New England Newspaper Convention. Our dedicated writers attended informational sessions and panels discussing skills needed for the big world of journalism. Congratulations to Co-Editor-in-Chief, Julz Levesque, on getting first place for the Critics Award! 🏆🗞️
