Unwritten Roads is a mobile, multi-genre creative workshop for young adults in Maine. Unwritten Roads was founded in December of 2015.
It was founded in 2015 by Katherine Nicoll and Laura Cowie, two Maine Teaching Artists specializing in creative writing and filmmaking. We offer unique creative writing courses that meet students where their interests lie in screenwriting and filmmaking. Greetings from Unwritten Roads! It’s been a busy start to 2023 as we finalize and send off footage from a wonderful past year of afterschool classes and our artist residency.
Our in-person courses are currently on hiatus but will return this spring. Stay tuned for more details!

Enjoy these behind the scenes from our filmmaking residency with The Reach Performing Arts Center in Deer Isle, Maine. We had a great time writing, rehearsing and fiming with all classes in the 5th, 6th and 7th grade. More to come as we finalize the movies!

We are so excited to announce our new summer programs!
We will be facilitating green screen filmmaking camps with Cumberland/No.Yarmouth Community Recreation Dept., The Telling Room in Portland and Seashore Trolley Museum in Kennebunk.
