NTEN says goodbye to Facebook | NTEN 07/06/2020

At the risk of being reminded this isn't an airport, we want to let you know why this account has been quiet.

We shared in our June newsletter that we had pulled our advertising from Facebook and Instagram and also stopped posting. We've weighed our small financial and content contributions to Facebook against our values for a while now, so it's not a snap decision. We recognize that not every nonprofit would arrive at the same conclusion or has the privilege to walk away.

We'll keep the accounts open. We're often tagged in photos during the Nonprofit Technology Conference and because some local clubs use groups to organize.

Dozens of community members responded to the newsletter to share both their personal and professional thoughts. Many people have asked for further discussion, so we're organizing a call for later this month. Once the details are set, we'll share them on Twitter and LinkedIn, where we're maintaining our presence. Thanks for being here with us and we hope we'll see you on the call.

How are you using data? | NTEN 05/13/2020

We love talking about data! How are you collecting it? How are you managing it? And most of all, what are you doing with it? 🤔

Tell us everything in this brief survey, and we'll publish the results in a new report this summer, along with some helpful resources.

And as our thanks, you'll be entered into a drawing to receive either a registration to 21NTC or the professional certificate of your choice!

How are you using data? | NTEN Help us benchmark the nonprofit sector's use of data. Tell us how you're collecting, managing, and using data, and we'll report back in the summer of 2020.

Applications are open for the 2020 Digital Inclusion Fellowship | NTEN 05/05/2020

The pandemic has made it clear to everyone that broadband access is critical to our daily lives. Yet many communities lack access or the necessary digital skills.

Our year-long Digital Inclusion Fellowship is for nonprofit professionals to learn how to launch or scale a program to expand access to technology and build digital literacy in their communities. Each fellow receives a grant to help fund their program.

Applications are now open for the cohort starting in July. Learn how the fellowship is organized and how you can apply in the link.

Thank you to the generous sponsors of the fellowship, Cleveland Foundation, Meyer Memorial Trust, and founding sponsor Google Fiber.

ICANN finally halts $1.1bn sale of .org registry, says it's 'the right thing to do' after months of controversy 05/01/2020

Big news broke last night. ICANN rejected the sale of the .ORG registry! .ORG has been saved thanks to tens of thousands of people and orgs who united in saying no to selling the digital home of nonprofits. There's still work to be done to protect the future of .ORG, but today our hearts are full because we've seen the power of our united community.

Looking at nonprofit data is a lot like looking up at the night sky: we wade through the darkness to find the points of light, we track their movement and chart their course, we collect them into constellations and use them to understand where we stand.

That’s what the annual M+R Benchmarks Study is all about. With each year’s in-depth expedition into digital data from dozens of nonprofits, we discover new worlds to probe and new questions to examine. Our mission?

Discover what’s working, what’s trending, and what’s changing for online fundraising, advocacy, and marketing. Feed your curiosity as we take you on a grand tour of this year’s Benchmarks findings, shine a light on the most important trends, and help you chart your course forward in these challenging times.
