Harmful algae bloom advisories for bodies of water throughout the state have been issued by Oregon Health Authority. Check our Web site for a list: https://www.oregonvma.org/toxic-algae-advisories
Note: The advisory in the graphic has been expanded to include the Willamette River from the Ross Island Bridge downriver to Wapato Bridge and Kelley Point Park.
Avoid contact with the water in these locations. Dogs can become extremely ill—and even die—within minutes to hours of exposure to cyanotoxins from drinking water, licking their wet fur, or eating floating mats or dried crust along the shore.
A toxic algae bloom can look foamy, scummy, thick like paint, and pea-green or blue-green in color. It can look like a thick green or brownish-red mat, or bright green clumps suspended in the water. If you find thick, brightly colored foam, scum or mats in a lake, pond, river or stream—especially in shallow, marshy areas where cyanobacteria blooms can form—don’t let your pet drink or swim in the water.
Check our Web site or Oregon Health Authority's site for the latest cyanobacteria advisories before heading out. And remember: when in doubt, stay out!

Please join us in donating to a wonderful cause! ❤️
Kristi's Fundraising Page at 2025 Doggie Dash Once again, I’m participating in Doggie Dash to help animals in need! In addition to my other volunteer contributions, this year I have been caring for dogs in protective custody (PC), a new experience for me and something I find very rewarding. The last group of PC dogs found wonderful homes...

Because of everyone who came together to help make this event happen on Sunday, including our team of 5 who joined the medical team of the day, over 30 dogs from Warm Springs were spayed and neutered and vaccinated and provided additional medical care. What an incredible day. ❤️

Several of our staff members are on the way to Madras today to volunteer on this large spay/neuter effort for the animals of the Warm Springs Reservation. We couldn’t be more proud of our people for their hearts and efforts in helping where help is needed. See the post below for more info and details about the awesome orgs that have come together to make this happen. ❤️
Our hearts are overflowing with gratitude for our supportive partners and sponsors who will be with us in person (and in spirit) for a very busy weekend on the Warm Springs Reservation!
On Saturday, as always, we will be hosting our monthly Warm Springs Pet Food Bank, where 7,000+ pounds of dog and cat food will be shared with 130+ families with pets, helping to fill the bellies of so many who might otherwise go without. Thank you to our partners and sponsors for their generous donations of thousands of pounds of pet food—FIDO Pet Food Bank, Western Partitions, Inc., Oregon Humane Society, Oregon Dog Rescue & Peacekeeper Society Portland Chapter.
Then, on Sunday, Fences For Fido and Northwest Dog Project will be hosting a Warm Springs Spay and Neuter Clinic at Three Rivers Humane Society, where 30+ dogs will be spayed & neutered—and each pup will be vaccinated, too!
We are so deeply honored to partner with and work alongside so many compassionate hearts and talented individuals, helping to bring these lifesaving veterinary care services to the Reservation, removing barriers to access to veterinary care. Thank you, Dr. Linx, Dr. Cierra Buer, Companion Animal Medical Project- CAMP & Alberta Veterinary Care & so many more!
And, finally, our most heartfelt gratitude is extended to the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs for their continued trust placed in our organization to help support their efforts to create a healthier and safer community.
Ellen Wilde, *mad thanks* for your beautiful artwork design.

Some dogs love the beach, and for those traveling to the water for the weekend, here are a few helpful tips to ensure they stay safe:
1. Bring fresh water & a bowl to let them drink from
2. Have an umbrella or sunshade handy for them to escape the suns rays.
3. Keep a close on eye on them.
4. Have fun in the sun!
