What am I up to? Giving my mother lots of attention, caring for her cockatiel, and grabbing a walk for self care. (Hugs)

Art is good for all ages. I set out paper, some paint and brushes and look at mom at 90 paint!

Yesterday I went out to relax. Mom was out visiting a friend's birds, so I was able to get away to a cafe (which I am not able to do often). I sat down depleted... so much happens when one cares for a parent in their home. I remembered how I used to sketch and what a joy I experienced. Art therapy for me. I went to Barnes and Nobel in Libertyville, IL (town next to where I am with my mother) and ordered cinnamon tea. Delicious. I saw these two people in a conversation. I took out a piece of paper, black pen, and started sketching. Smiling, I realized how nourishing this opportunity to do a little sketching is for me.

Today is a solar eclipse and I will be with mom in my childhood home town of Mundelein to watch this amazing event. Pretty Exciting! This area is said to get 90% of the eclipse.
Mom's exciting event is the turquoise toaster in background. To her this is what makes her day! Bagels and toast with her strawberry jam! Wohoo!

Life can change in a split second! One minute you are looking out the window at the birds on the fence... and the next there is one on your shoulder looking out with you.

Here is Betty Luckow, my mother. Courageously she faces each day! Even buttoning a shirt with arthritic hands. As you look into the window of the upcoming 2024 year wake up to all the blessings you now enjoy. Freedom, movement, remembering, people alive around you. Take notice. Life is a gift!
