Multnomah-Portland Chapter, NSDAR

The Multnomah-Portland Chapter was honored to host the OSSDAR District I Meeting this afternoon at Caples House Museum.Thank you to our State Regent and state officers for visiting, and to all who attended. It was a great meeting!

"Resolved, That these United Colonies are, and of right ought to be, free and independent States, that they are absolved from all allegiance to the British Crown, and that all political connection between them and the State of Great Britain is, and ought to be, totally dissolved.

That it is expedient forthwith to take the most effectual measures for forming foreign Alliances.

That a plan of confederation be prepared and transmitted to the respective Colonies for their consideration and approbation."

Richard Henry Lee's Resolution on June 7, 1776 would be come the basis for the Declaration of Independence. Happy Independence Day!

We are a couple days from America celebrating 250 years of freedom! Recently, the first American Flag to be raised in Portland, Oregon has been brought out for display at its full size of 9 feet by 6 feet at the Oregon Historical Society to celebrate our Nations 250th birthday.
